  • squeaky noise from the engine room

    hi,

english is not my native language so please excuse me.

I want to buy a second hand DS3 VTI 120.

The one i´ve seen i noticed a strange noice. Here is a video i´ve found on youtube that sounds similar.

    What could that be?

    Thanks for any advice.

That sounds terrible, I would find another car. It's certainly not normal and why buy something you are going to have to fix right away.

Sounds like it's coming from the pulleys, might be worth giving them a quick spray with WD40.

I thougt that is maybe a little problem, with the tension roller or car belt.
Besides the car has 1 year remaining warranty left so perhaps the dealer could repair it? Or maybe its a wearing part and i must buy it myself...?

I can hear it only when the car is idling, when driving its going away.

The car has 1 year left on warranty? So use the noise as a reason to bargain down the price. Then go back and have it fixed under warranty.

Hi yes there is a warranty left till the date 08/2013, and the price is not bad for the car in my region. About 6000€ under ListPrice with ~ 20.000km

It's the timing chain tensioner on the inside of the timing cover, no amounts of spray on oil will stop it.

                  Hi, thanks for replay.
So is there a major repair neccesary? And does the Warranty cover this problem?

Yes, it was a known fault, so Citroen should fix it.
