Gearbox / Engine very odd nasty sound

Ok so i put a couple of posts on other topic about this but my engine and gearbox has started a very nasty sound. When I accelerate, mainly in 4th and 5th it sounds like I'm in a V8 but not the usual 'hole in exhaust' sound. Then when I stop accelerating but still in gear I get this odd, clicky continuous sound which is quite loud but goes away if I pull it out of gear. Pretty odd and worrying as 250 miles from home!
Oil checked and ok, and drives ok, just this odd sound!

Not sure how else to describe but taking it to dealer on Tuesday once back home!

I saw your post and had never heard of this before sorry

Is there not a local Citroen dealer you can call by and ask them to take a quick look or listen ?

Scarborough citroen advise not driving even to Scarborough but to have it recovered back to my garage in Ipswich!

That's good you went for advice pronto- they must be concerned to tell you not to drive it
Has gearbox got any oil LOL
Maybe part of the gearing sheared off

Chugging- that sounds like engine to me

Well Mr. AA says he can't see a thing wrong. We went for a drive and it only slightly done it. He suggested it may only be when car is under a bit of strain with 4 people in it!
Checked oil, gears, exhaust and pied around a bit and checked some guards or something under the car for vibration but all seemed perfectly ok.
Said its fine to drive but to get checked immediately when home Monday night.
Car booked in for Tuesday....
