Chrome bits...

The chromed plastic bits are all cleanable as if they were bodywork right (door strips, chevrons, etc)? They'll take polishes, waxes, etc?

Seems like a stupid question I know - but that's because I'm stupid...

They sure will. I have (obviously) a specific plastic chrome polish and it makes no difference whatsoever to the chrome bits against a bodywork polish. Baguettes are good for a polish and a wax to prevent tarnishing spots.

Not stupid to ask a question prior to possibly making an expensive to correct mistake.
