  • Special Edition DS3 Red and Black Detail

Well I received a PM out of the blue on Thursday from Matt who asked about the possibility of when I could book his car in for a detail as the swirls and little scratches were doing his head in and he needed to fall back in love with his car again. No pressure then.

As luck would have it and to Matts surprise, I was able to jiggle things around and get him booked in today for a stage 3 detail with a machine correction.

Here's how it looked upon arrival at 9am this morning

    Tyres scrubbed with
    BH SurfexHD and stiff brush

Wheels cleaned and all brake dust and contamination removed with
Autosmart Wheels and BH Autowheels using Wheel Woolie and lambswool mitt

Degreaser applied via a pressure sprayer with
    BH SurfexHD

    Wheel arches cleaned with
BH SurfexHD and long handled brush

    Paintwork clayed and washed with
G3 Detox Clay mitt with G3 Detox shampoo

Pat dried with Mammoth drying towel

    Fallout removal with
    BH Korrosol

    Rinsed

    Pat dried

To leave it looking like this prior to proper led light examination for swirls and defects.

Exhaust cleaned with 0000 fine fine grade wire wool and Autosol

    Before

    50/50

    After

Into the cave to be inspected under the lights and out of the hot sun. Swirls, dulling of paintwork in 2 areas and some overspray on the rear offside panel. Definitely time to start the machine polish.

Started with a Megs MF cutting pad with Megs correction compound but needed a bit more so moved up to orange pad and Megs UC. Much better on the black paintwork.
Red roof which Matt admitted to never polishing needed a green pad with Megs 105. Lots of dead red paint removed and swirls removed.

    Before

    After

After the full machine polish, the car was wiped with Silicone Off then Wolf's Chemicals Carnauba Glaze and an LSP of Sonax Polymer Net Shield.

Windscreen treated with Glaco Rain repellent, tyres dressed with Angelwax Elixir, alloys sealed with Sonax Wheel Rim Sealant, trim dressed with Carpro PERL and all other glass cleaned With Carpro Eraser to leave this result

    Amazing flake pop

I hope you have now fell back in love with your car pal??

Thanks for trusting me with your pride and joy Matt

You should offer 'experience days ', Andy... Car and myself booked in for a masterclass...

Too kind guys/ gals. Just enjoy doing what I do and if others like the results as much as I do then everyone's a winner.
As Matt and I found out, pictures on here don't do the finish of the car any justice whatsoever. Believe it or not, the car looked even better in real life 😁😁😁

Cracking job mate as always [emoji106]

I also found this that no matter how good a camera you have it just cant pick up the finish. So if it looks amazing in photos then you know it going to be even better in person

As discussed today Matt, I would recommend using the Sonax BSD to keep the Polymer Net Shield topped up.

Seeing as though you now have awesome beading, the BSD will maintain that and will actually keep your car looking cleaner as the dirt will find it hard to stick to a slippery surface (I kid you not).

Anyway have a look here as the prices are the best that I have seen AND include free delivery. The 5L bottle is exceptional value at £39 compared to the 750ml bottle at £13. Over 6 and a half of the 750ml bottles would be needed to match the quantity of the 5L bottle which would then cost over £78.
