  • Wes79 detail courtesy of The Racoon

Arranged for a good few weeks now and today was the day. August weather wasn't extremely good so glad it could be dragged in undercover to produce some pretty good results.

Car as it arrived (Wes was asked by myself not to clean it beforehand)

1:5 ratio of BH SurfexHD applied via pressure sprayer produced filth off the car like this

rinsed then snowfoamed with a new foam (not released yet)
Tyres degreased with SurfexHD, alloys cleaned with Envy Iron Awe diluted 1:1 with a Wheel Woolie from a bucket of PowerMaxed Shampoo. Arches cleaned with (again) SurfexHD and a long handled brush

Car then washed with double sided lambswool mitt http://www.envyvaleting.co.uk/products_info.asp?id=398 and Johnsons Baby Bath https://www.johnsonsbaby.co.uk/produ...sons-baby-bath

Dried with Serious Performance Uber Ltd Edition drying towel http://www.seriousperformance.co.uk/...oView_820.html

Then brought into the cave to be expected. Bonnet was quite swirly

Taped up, yellow heavy cutting pad and Megs 105 produced impressive results

Continued with this all over the car, then Poorboys Blackhole applied to bonnet and boot by DA with AutoFinesse Ultra Glaze for roof and all side panels, again by DA. This was then all topped off with Soft 99 Authentic Premium Wax.

Wheels sealed with CarPlan Nanomeric wheel seal, tyres dressed with Obsession Wax Nero, trim dressed with Autosmart Highstyle and windscreen and back window coated with Sonax BSD. Wipers cleaned with PowerMaxed glass cleaner. Exhaust cleaned with Britemax Twins and all side windows cleaned with PowerMaxed glass cleaner. Interior air freshened with Carchem Cherry air freshener http://car-chem.com/store/air-freshner-500ml

    End results

Excellent job, as always! Thought I might see you on the journey up, as we probably came a similar way to you, on our way to Leeds! Very jealous! Hope it was less wet on the way back!

So happy with the results, but on top of a stunning clean it was great to meet Andy, have a laugh and also learn things, pick up tips and have a go with the polisher.

A great day indeed! Journey home was 99% dry and just a few tiny water bits to wipe in the morning. Very chuffed indeed!

                          Excellent job as usual Andy
                          Nice car Wes

No mention of a clay mitt did it not need it?
Also whats the thinking behind the baby shampoo?
Obviously PH neutral but aren't there plenty of PH neutral car shampoos out there?
                          Am interested to know

I was of the same opinion Mark, but cleaned up and sealed they look fantastic, very A Class AMG

Claying was only done quite recently by Wes and felt as smooth as glass so was a stage omitted. After washing and before machine polishing, a shampoo with no wax or gloss at all is required. You are quite right, there are plenty of PH neutral shampoos out there but have you seen their price??

Dodo BTBM for example. BUT at £16.95 for a 500ml bottle http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/d...riant=6281that is a bit steep for most (me included).

                            AF Lather is £11.95 for a 500ml bottle http://shop.autofinesse.co.uk/lather-500ml

If Johnsons Baby Bath is mild enough for a babys bum, then it's good enough for a Racoon detail
