  • Cleaning Sand out of carpet

After spending the last 12 months loving other peoples cars I have decided to dedicate some time and money to my own car again.

I have thoroughly cleaned inside but there is sand trapped in the carpet from where I play 5 a side and after hours of scrubbing and cleaning with my extractor most of the sand is still there. Anybody had any success with anything similar as I am pretty fed up now lol

A wet and dry vac should ideal for situations like this pal. See the crap extracted from the front edge of my passenger seat which certainly didn't look that dirty to start with

Failing that try a steam cleaner 👍

cheers mate, I have the hoover on it and I have an extractor like the Karcher Puzzi. I am getting some serious dirty water out but its almost like the sand is trapped as the suction from the hoover and extractor isnt getting it and brushing isnt shifting it either.

I do have a cheap steam cleaner so might dig that out and have a go.

        Would a lint roller work?

I like the ones with paper you peel off. Can see how much you've picked up!

As you can with the sticky plastic one. Rinsed under a warm tap, picked up (visual) debris is gotten rid of, dried with a lint free cloth then sticky again and good to go. No more having to buy sticky paper refills 😉

Have you tried adding a rubber nozzle on to your hoover they are great for helping pick up hard to reach dirt?

Might be worth a try if your still struggling

cheers guys, I got some more of it out but my OCD isnt happy with that. I will try the lint roller idea as I am detailing my uncles land rover this week and he has 2 collies so that will be useful. If this fails I will look at getting a new attachment for the hoover.

Sounds stupid but get a spatula and whack the seat before you hoover, this lifts the sand to the surface. It's a trick I use on mats and should work just as well

cheers Bigfeet, I did get most out by using a rubber mallet and the same technique in the end. Gonna look at ordering some rubber mats specifically for monday nights i think
