  • How contaminated is new paint!

Started to clean my new car yesterday
It has less than 50 miles on it
Gave it a spray of Purple Rain iron decon
Here are a couple of pics of the results, not the best, but show the amount of contamination on new paint
I didn't think it would be this bad!

I decontaminated a new Fiat 500 a few weeks ago, and that bled quite a lot. I also used Purple rain.

It would bleed even more with a better fallout remover such as Iron X or BH Korrosol.

It is not uncommon for brand new cars to be transported by rail then stored for months in yards, exposed to the elements. Your car gets chosen from the yard to be delivered to the dealer then onto you. It will get a quick wash (poorly) before you collect it with no decontamination whatsoever.

I am detailing a brand new Mini Cooper Countryman SD free of charge on Tuesday afternoon after being picked up from the dealers by the owner on Tuesday morning. The dealers have been instructed not to clean it prior to collection so I can do it properly and not have to correct their mistakes. It is white and I guarantee there will be evidence of fallout within the paintwork without even seeing it or knowing where it's been. I will post up pictures on Tuesday/Wednesday to show you.

I did use Korrosol when the PR ran out
I bought it on your recommendation Andy

My car was a factory order so it had better not have been stored in a yard for months!

The dealer never prepped my car at all on the outside
I let him clean the inside but told him not to let a sponge anywhere near the paint
It took me a good 8 hrs to get it how I wanted it,there were a couple of small marks
on the paint, one looked like a thumb print, but they polished out easily
Gave it 2 coats of Fusso, another of your recommendations Andy,so should see me through the winter

Nice one pal. Nice to see dealers being asked not to touch the outsides of the cars. Just remember to also insist on it whenever it's in for any service or maintenance work. I have a sign that I have emailed to members in the past which also gets displayed in the car whenever left with them.

How did you find applying and buffing off the Fusso? Easy isn't it? Certainly made your car look fantastic mate👍

My dealer always asks,as a joke,if I want my car cleaned
They know not to touch it

            The Fusso is great!
I bought it at Waxstock and have been saving it for this car
Easy on/off and really enhances the shine
Interesting to see how long it lasts
It was raining today and the water was just running off!
