  • Opinions on Autoglym

I know alot of people that have used autoglym products in the past and swore by them, this was few years back and they weren't really that clued up about detailing and car cleaning so thought would ask you guys, are they any good or just a waste of money?

Seems a pritty good price for the amount of stuff your getting if the products are decent

As if by magic Gaz, my ears👂 were burning🔥

My first brand when I got into detailing as it was readily available quite cheaply from Halfrauds. Swiftly moved up to Megs then on to a whole new world of much more expense.

The only real stars in the Autoglym range are the Vinyl and Rubber care and of course the fantastic, must-have, SRP. I actually have 3L of the Bodywork Conditioning Shampoo which I just use on alloys now. (Only because it was reduced to £10 for the 3 bottles)

The collection shown above only has small sized bottles so is not really good value in my honest opinion for the majority of not very good products.

I have plenty of expensive and inexpensive products that I use on mine and clients cars. If a product is good, I use it and then recommend it regardless of price or brand name.

You could do a lot worse Phil than saving some of your money and getting these 1L bottles from our good friends at Powermaxed. A great starter bundle

Andy dominates this part of the forum lol nothing gets the go ahead without the detailing kings approval

Yeah i have never used them myself, but most time ye get what ye pay for with this stuff and anytime i have used any cheaper products they were a waste of money.

Always found AG products the most expensive, and the only product i really like and use a lot is the Tar and adhesive remover

My thoughts are that there will be one decent product in every manufactures' range- its finding it

EG- Sonax (Red) coloured polish is the best Ive ever used
and Carplans Demon foam the best car shampoo ive ever used

So i for one dont buy into the Autoglym hype- each to their own obvs

Wait till you have spent over 7-8 grand (4k on a specific garage just for detailing) fuelling your passion for keeping your own and others cars clean 😮

I use the Super Resin Polish, tar remover and the vinyl and rubber care and im pretty pleased with them, especially with the shine that SRP gives on chrome

Almost always true with you get what you pay for Phil. There are some cheap deals/products knocking around that are very good. I usually share those that I discover on here.

Wow that's crazy money, ive already spent about 150 and for the time being dont wanna spend anymore than another 100-150 to get my starter essentials in. Then after that i can start saving for next year when warranty runs out so i can get some extra power.

Have tried loads over the last few years g technic, sonax, autofinesse, but still like autoglym srp as a general wax good shine, bit of paint correction as very very slightly abrasive & lasts fairly well

the only other product I rate of Autoglym is the Autoglym Glass Polish as reviewed here:

                        http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=305099

ran out of mine a few months ago and need some now to get rid of the awful "Greasy Rash" my windscreen has these wet mornings. My Auto Wipe feature thinks its raining constantly and wipers go ten to the dozen!

Have to agree the glass Polish is excellent at cutting through the grime & leaving a streak free finish.

The problem I have with the SRP other than its pricey, is it dries so quick into the white cloudy coating, its then hard to get off, and the dust that is removed gets in all the nooks and crannies
                            Makes the paintwork look dusty.

Sonax red car polish/wax (Not sure of precise name) is so good at adding colour over the scratches, I havent bothered chasing up a DA polisher for my bonnet. Problem is, only lasts couple weeks, then got to do it again

Chris, the latest SRP formula is virtually dust free if you use thin coats, and is also much easier to buff off now.
