  • AMAZING Alloy wheel clean up using PowerMaxed

My brother has an Audi A4 S-Line with these alloys on it

Not very impressive so he decided to get some new to him RS alloys but they needed a little tidy up

Powermaxed Alloy Wheel Stain and Mark Remover was fantastic

    Before/after

Sealed up they look much better on his car now and much better than the old alloys

Old ones which came off were also treated to a clean

    Sealed these with Monsoon

To leave them looking like this

    Before/after

Also the mother in laws steel wheels were rusting and was visible beneath the wheel trims

Quick clean again with the Powermaxed cleaner then a spray of Korrosol was applied

Rinsed, dried then sanded down by hand

Rattle can of primer was applied, two coats

Then 3 coats of rattle can matte black

Not a great after picture but you can certainly see the difference

They certainly are extremely good Chris

Don't know if you saw this but the frequent use, non acidic one cleaned the alloy before any agitation or rinse off

Wow that's impressive. Never thought to use the wax on the alloys.

          And why not young man?
The pot of wax will outlive the car so why not use it on the alloys too. Just make sure they're clean and dry first.

Try polish, seal and protect then the wax last Gaz instead.

Ok will do Andy, will it work better that way?

Thinking about it. Scrap the polish stage as sealants are much better on clean, non polished metalwork.

                  Wash, dry, seal then wax.

The sealant acts as a gloss layer, while the wax will add depth and a wet-looking appearance.

Let me know how you get on Gaz[emoji106]

Andy, in the next few months I am going to be getting my Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2s refurbished. I have managed to get the exterior surface of my wheels clean, but the build-up of dirt/ brake dust and other awfulness on the inside of the wheels is proving difficult to get rid of.

I have a spare set of wheels, so im happy to take these off to give them a good clean, but don’t suppose you can suggest a process of cleaning the insides? I have tried several wheel cleaner products and just don’t think they are good enough to shift the bulk of it, even with a scrub!

Can get pictures if needed, when I can that is, I don’t have a phone currently.

4 things you will need to achieve success.
Powermaxed wheel stain and mark remover (unbelievable stuff)
Fallout remover such as IronX or BH Korrosol
A tar remover such as AS Tardis or AF Oblitarate
A stiff polyester bristled brush. http://shop.specialistbrushesandtool...made-380-p.asp

This was an extremely quick going over but you get the idea. Obviously the sticky pads from the previous wheel weights will take some shifting but Tardis will take care of that

Cheers mate, I have some Tardis at home, never even thought of using this on my wheels to be honest!! Good Shout!!

I am getting the wheels refurbished by a friend, so said I would get the wheels to a decent state before taking them in to save costs

Will give Tardis a go this weekend, along with some other products I have. Failing which I may need to invest in some new products.

                        Cheers,

Just to add a lot of the stuff on the back of Sean's wheels is glue/ really really well baked in brake dust. Tried using AF iron out and the Mainz equivalent but neither budged a lot. Is there like a really really powerful cleaner that will remove it?

Pressure wash the alloy, apply the PM wheel cleaner and let it sit for a few minutes, then agitate with stiff brush. Instead of washing off at this point, reapply PM cleaner and let it sit again. After a few more minutes agitate and pressure wash it off. Stand back and admire results.
