  • Detailing advice required

    Hi Guys,

I would class myself as a novice therefore would like some advice on detailing. On previous cars this is what I would do and the products I would use. If anyone could correct me or confirm this is the best way I'd be greatly appreciative.

    1. Rinse car
    2. Wash car (with cheap shampoo as going to apply polish afterwards)
    3. Clay bar (autoglym)
    4. Tar remover with microfibres (autoglym)
    5. Wash again
    6. Allow to dry
    7. Apply polish (autoglym SRP) with meguires applicator pads
    8. Buff off with machine buffer
    9. Apply meguires wax with applicator pads
    10. Hand rub with microfibre cloth.

    Cheers!

    John

I would so the tar remove before the clay bar.. as if you clay bar first you are just rubbing the tar into the paint and cause scratches...

        Good evening John

Firstly can I ask why you are using poor quality products on a decent car like a DS3??

Anyway if you don't want to throw them in the bin at least use them correctly and in the right order.

        1 Rinse car
2 Wash car (with a mild shampoo not containing wax)
3 Decontaminate paintwork and wheels using a fallout removal and a tar removal
4 Scrub tyres with a degreaser or an APC and a stiff brush
5 Clay the paintwork and also glass. Mitt/towel is better and more efficient than a bar
6 Wash again with a mild shampoo
        7 Pat dry
8 Apply a glaze with a machine polisher which lasts longer than SRP and produces a superior shine
9 Buff off with a plush mf cloth (>400gsm is ideal)
        10 Apply wax with applicator
11 Buff off with a different plush mf cloth (again >400gsm is ideal)
12 Maintain with a quality QD

Thanks for the advice. Can you recommend the best quality polish to use rather than SRP?

          Cheers!

What colour is your car? If dark then PB Blackhole is excellent. If light then PB White Diamond is excellent. Failing that, 50Cal Detailing Cover Up Glaze is fantastic on any colour even though it's blue [emoji106]🏻
