  • Black biro on cream leather

Not DS3 related but help would be much appreciated.

Today I noticed black biro on the cream passenger seat of hubby's Volvo. Would anyone know how I can get it off without damaging the colour or the leather?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I've did some researching online and got a few suggestions. Down to you if you choose any of these mind you.
    • Try a bit of nail varnish remover on cotton wool and then rinse off quickly,
    • White spirit,
    • Saddle soap,
    • Hairspray.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks. White spirit was my first thought. I needed a second opinion (or as many as possible) since it's not my car and I don't want to be responsible for making it worse.

I got some leather wipes from Dunelm and they seem to do the job on most things. I've not removed biro but it has cleaned the blue marks from my jeans. They were about £1 IIRC.

Did you manage to get the stain out?

I've only tried the leather wipes so far, which got the very light bit off but didn't touch the heavier bit. I'll probably try white spirit next week when the car's back at home. Did you have any other suggestions??

I'd have thought surgical spirit on a soft cloth might work (followed closely by a soft cloth dampened with water). I think SS (unlike white spirit) is water soluble, so less likely to be itself difficult to remove from the leather.

As they always say on cleaning products - try on an inconspicuous area first!

Andy sells this http://www.cleanyourride.uk/autoperf...search=leather and it might work, at least you know it's not going to bugger up the leather
