  • Autoglym Products

Well I took the time today to wash/clean and wax the car. Took over three hours but the end result seems worth it. I used only Autoglym products which I had also used on my Saxo before. However I'd never used the Hi-Def cleaner or Wax before.

Specifically I used High Definition Cleanser and High Definition Wax after using the Bodywork Shampoo. The longest part being trying to dry the car, do people have any hint here? In the end my mum came out with a towel and used that for the mass amounts of water. Then I used some chamois leather to get it 100% dry.

I didn't even clean the interior (mainly because I picked it up Weds and had made sure that wasn't to get dirty) or polish the windows so not looking forward to doing a full clean in the future. Will make sure to pick days the girlfriend is around though next time

Also nothing is said on the packets but what is the deal with the wax, just shampoo it now every so often? When should I rewax? Never dealt with wax before but wanted something on there to protect it.

Megs polish is pants, it's far too oily to be any use, substitute that stage for AG SRP, it's the best polish, and even and some silicone in it for minor protection.

              lol.

              microfibre towels!

dont use a dish towel or a house towel because there could be anything stuck on them.

              As for waxing...

i think wax once a week and pollish and/or clay once a month?

Mine got it's first proper wash and wax today since I bought it.

I used Autoglym paint restorer on the bird poo mark on the front bumper that some of you saw at the Kent meet, I'm pleased to say it completely got rid of it!

I then waxed it with Collinite 476S.

It's very clean and shiny now.

                It's also raining.

Claying once a month isnt neefed you will have no paint left. As long as there is a good layer of wax on to protect the paint it will be fine

After reading a lot about it, these seems to be the best thing to do

                      Clay after the winter months-

                      Foam Lance.
Wash with Microfiber or Wool Wash mitt
Dry with drying towel/cloth (not a Chamois or 'squeejie' as these can trap grit and cause damage)
Sealant .. (e.g AG Extra Gloss)
Wax AFTER Sealant. (Not wax then sealant)

Multiple layers of wax = better.

Then for the regular wash just the foam lance & wash with a wax-safe shampoo. (e.g DoDo juice born to be mild)

Then re-apply Sealant & Wax every month or so

Theres a handy guide on CleanyourCar.com which helps to outline the best way to detail, but I know most people have their own methods.
