New Paintwork - What is the Quality Like?

For those of us who do not like swirls, spiders web and general paint defects, what is the paint like when it arrives from the factory to the dealer? I ask because I looked at a C1 in the showroom, in red, and its bonnet was appauling! The other cars, higher up the car food chain, were not too bad other than the odd swirls.

I am hoping that none of the car cleaning bods from the dealership, or elsewhere, cause any marks on the paint. I want my new car to be perfect!
