      Folks,

Looks like it's holy moses thread resurrection day!

      Various questions:

Tar Spot - Autobrite 'Just the Tonic' - undiluted, shifts tar no problem
Clay lube - Autobrite Berry Blast - diluted circa 10-1 or even further

When I clay it is only after a full de-contamination - logic is I want as much removed chemically before I start running clay over it - what you need to do is included in this and other threads.

If you're not machining claying is probably one of the most useful things to do (I always do it before machining too).

      Regards,
      Clive.

(ps Fans of SRP - SRP is an All in one product (combining polishing properties and wax like protection, often two different stages). Aimed at the mass market/body shop/ car dealership and it serves all of them well. It is full of fillers, masking swirl marks very well - which is why it is so popular - it doesn't remove swirls permanently, but it is a fantastic product when used correctly. I only don't use it too often because I prefer different OCD techniques, but it is very, very good if used correctly

always used a small soft sponge in some nice very warm water with some Jiff on the sponge = effortless the stuff drops off with a few rubs, never wasted me money on these expensive tar removal things - cos by the sounds of them they dont work very well

I'd never use Jif, too chalky/gritty for me and I'd crap myself it would mark my black paint, that said if Clive approves I'd use it

What? Nice and abrasive. What do you use to clean the rest of the car? Brillo pads?

hmmm don't much see the point of the motorcycle pic but one thing is for sure and certain that white paint is dull and lifeless.... probably the result of jiff

I use Finish ultra tabs, disolved in a bucket of cold water with a few squirts of Fairy liquid to wash my car. Paint work feels so soft to touch afterwards.
