Any recommendation on a CLAY BAR? and what's liquid clay bar like?
Think mine needs doing. Never done it before
Surface seems rough to touch although looks great when cleaned
Believe its wash n dry, spray lube, clay bar, then wash again- that right?

Thanks Clive, trying to get into a routine of doing it every 1-2 weeks. I'm sure I'll get quicker the more I do it.

When Clive did a full detail before, I think we used a Meguiars clay bar if I remember correctly.

When we did it, it went: Citrus Wash, Magifoam, Rinse, Wash with 2 bucket method, Rinse, Clay bar on wet car (with quick detailer as lube), Wash & Rinse then Dry.

I'm sure Clive will confirm which steps are vital but I think it's best to remove as much crap as possible so it's easier to clay the car.

              Hope that helps

                Hi Chris,

If surface is rough to the touch, definitely worth a clay. A clay bar kit from Halfords will be fine (Meguiars). I have some others but this is a good starter kit.

Patrick has recalled the clay routine correctly!

                Regards,
                Clive.

                  Think we should negotiate here:
How bout Wash, rinse, clay bar, wash (With wax) , rinse? I dont have OCD
                  Seems a tadge quicker
My neighbours will think I am nuts washing it twice in 2 hours anyway
Most of them have a smile as I do it every 2-3 weeks at the mo

                    Chris,

Sure that'll work - most important thing is the clay is applied to a wet car, that has been washed first, and the surface is kept wet whilst you clay...after finishing your routine I'd recommend you do add a wax to give it some decent protection, but it's all personal preference....

                    Regards,
                    Clive.

Those clay bar kits are pricey arent they- £25 average
Dont really fancy buying it, using it once, and chucking it
Do they do tester packs or something

                        Chris,

You can get cheaper online - but you won't use all of it in one go anyway - it's an ok starter kit - then if you want you can use quick detailer (not Megs) for another occasion (because you're more likely to run out of the quick detailer (i.e. the 'lube') first than you are the clay).... it's detailing, it can be cheap and it can be pricey! .....let's not start talking about wax prices now...

ps sometimes Halfords do 2 for 1 - go for it then if you can wait that long!

                        Regards,
                        Clive.
