Black Wheel Cleaning

Hi People
I have a 5 week old DS3 Sport Plus in white with black wheels. Firstly just 3 weeks after having the car I have scuffed the driver side wheel ever so slightly on the very edge near the tyre (any suggestions on whether to leave it or can i do anything to get rid)
Also what do others clean there black wheels with as they do get quite dirty looking even after a power wash they look dullish.

I use Autobrite Very Cherry Non Acid Wheel Cleaner with a brush and they always come up great.

You think black ones get dirty, good job you don't have white ones lol. Meguiars alloy wheel cleaner kept them shiny and white.

Ok thank you guys, I wasn't complaining about them being dirty it's that hey look dull even after a wash but wasn't sure what was safe to use on them

Make sure what ever wheel cleaner you go for is suitable for painted finishes, most alloy clears are acid based and will strip the lacquer off the wheels in no time leaving you with dull looking alloys.

I recommend Autobrite Very Cherry Non Acid Wheel Cleaner as well. As for the wheel scuff I would not bother as once you have done it you are bound to do it again. A good allow wheel cleaner and polish helps when applying Autobrite time and time again.

I would Autobrite Very Cherry Non Acid Wheel Cleaner then apply a good quality wax, also i would invest in a quality wheel brush.

Applying wax will help stop the brake dust from baking onto the alloy and it will make it easy to clean next time round with a quality shampoo, i only use the Autobrite Very Cherry Non Acid Wheel Cleaner when doing a full-on 4-5hr clean

Hi Pryddie,

The lads anwser you well! I'd like to think my influence has worn off on one or two of them! AB Very Cherry Non Acid Wheel Cleaner @10-1 preferably through a 'foaming' trigger head will work excellently!

You can also add a wheel sealant after cleaning the wheels if you wish - this is effectively a specialised wax that is designed to withstand the high temperatures that wheels can experience under braking, etc.

For my white wheels I use very cherry too, it does a great job.
I also applied a coat of gtechniq c5 to them which so far has been amazing for me, a gentle wipe lifts off all break dust and restores a nice shine to the wheels.
I would definatly advise getting a decent sealant, makes life soo much easier
