I do detailing purely as a hobby but now find myself fully booked on details (if I want them), I love 'proper' detailing, no sponges, no leathers, removing swirl marks from cars (showroom cars are way below standard to me, but of course are fine for 99.9% of the population).... I also train in detailing... it is not what I do for a living.... as above there's no 'should' it's whatever you want to enjoy (I don't get drinking but accept 99% of the population find it enjoyable!)....
I've done a couple of guys cars on here, including BeefMasta's I'll let him tell you if he thought it was worth it....

But for your potential enjoyment, please enjoy:

This one I did with one of my best mates for a show:

Whilst I don’t have any real ‘close up’ macro shots of my own work (I’m too interested concentrating rather than photography!), you’ll find examples in Detailing World in the ‘Studio’ section (where the pros display their work) of 50/50 shots showing the swirl marks that are removed and whilst you don’t see them in daylight, they quite simply rob your paintwork of depth of reflection (I’m a pain in the rear to a car salesman as I can spot the swirls a mile off, and they look at me in wonder, lol).

I also help with some ‘basics’ training, just so you have some background info…there’s lots of people who don’t get how easy it is to put swirls in cars and how to (largely) prevent them in the first place:

    Agenda here:

Pictures here: (same thread after the course):

We’ve run this course quite a few times with anything from 5 to 12 attendees, always with positive feedback – not suggesting you need this, just wanted you to understand my interest!

Let me know if you're tempted!, not for the course, but for the bug!

    Regards,
    Clive.

All my previous cars have usually been polished by hand with SRP, since the only thing you can really do by hand is apply something with loads of fillers, and then go over it with some wax to lock it in. I probably did this quarterly with washes every 2 weeks or so and top it up with some quick detailer to keep the beeding action at 100%

At least once a week, every week. However if a little scruffy looking during the week then a quick splash and rub down with Optimum No Rinse does the trick. Amazing stuff that produces amazing results. Remember to use a grout sponge and a pre spray before wiping works wonders.

Apologies to all members in the south east.

I have just hand polished my car. That means the next five days will probably be filled with rain, snow, hail, meteor showers and geese with bowel issues.
If I do my bike tomorrow, there will probably be an earthquake too.

mind you 1st wash was with snow foam then after that it was another 2 times just with water.

How often do you recommend wax/polish when (and I swear, I'm not trying to make you jealous) it's constantly in the sun and close to beach area? I want to protect the paint as much as possible, and I live in the hot caribbean weather... I don't want my bright sunny yellow to fade
