  • Cigarette smell

Sorry....this is a double post. I posted it in the general section first but then thought this might be a more appropriate place.

I have had my car two weeks now and when I took it for a test drive I told the dealer that I could smell smoke in it and he said he would sort it. When I picked it up two weeks ago it smelt lovely and has been fine but today when I got in it I noticed a slight smoke smell again. Any suggestions for getting rid of this awful smell permenantly?

onions apparently get rid of smoke smells....

Or just buy strong air fresheners like the febreze one...

I know when you gloss paint you're supposed to cut an onion in half and put the halves on a plate in the room to absorb the smell quicker. It deffo works for that so maybe it would work on cigarette smell in a car ? I think the problem with cigarette smoke is that it's tar-ry so is absorbed by fabrics...

Use a wet vac on the roof lining above your head and you should be fine.

When I bought my Berlingo the old owner had filled the ashtray with roll ups. Didnt even bother emptying it for sale. We cleared it out sprayed some oust and left the windows down for about 2 weeks, well window only 1 went down. Was'nt worried about someone jumping in it either was a piece of crap van but smell soon went. That or i replaced the smell with spilt petrol. ahh maybe that was it...
