  • Polishing Tips for Beginners.

This weekend i'm planning on going the whole hog with cleaning my car. That means polishing a car for the first time ever. Its shameful to say but true. I never really cared about my previous car but with the DS i find myself getting more and more anul. Going out in the dark with a wet cloth to remove patches of dirt and tar, you get the jist. I clean it frequently but the more i look at it the less 'shiny' it appears and the more swirl marks i see.
    I'll skip to the point.
Is there any advice some of the more experienced or more anul car cleaners out there could give me about the cherry popping i'm about to do? You know just handy does and don't, and products that will make it easier!
(In case it make a difference my cars black with white roof etc.)

      Hi Dan,

I do reasonably high level detailing as a serious hobby and you will find me under the same username on Detailingworld (link as per Bigfeet above). I also deliver training via 'basics' training courses at Autobrite (a detailing company owned by my friend). In the Autobrite section of detailing world you'll find details of the course - Gary from here came on it last Saturday, he seemed happy with it!

I have lots of links to the detailing work I do myself, as it's a hobby I don't get much time for doing as many as I would like. However, I think you'd suit the back to basics course if 'easy' detailing/valeting to get great results is what you're after.

      Regards,
      Clive.

            Hi Dan

As Clive stated I did the course a few weeks back, I can highly reccommend it. It impressed me enough to now try and find out how you can get further guidance on machine polishing. You can also go along with specific questions which Clive and Mark are only too happy to answer. One tip I would give you if you do go along, go with a really dirty car, then they will use it to demo on, and you get a clean car back at the end.

            Regards

            Gary
