  • I do other cars details too, but as it's a DS3 members car!, here goes:

It's not Pink to Red, but 'tinted Blue' to Blue!(Picture Heavy)

I decided to post up this 'not so blue' to 'Blue' Vauxhall Corsa detail, which is a member's wife's car on here. This is a copy of my post from detailing world, just thought you lot might find interesting, well, maybe!

In keeping with older Vauxhalls this was a classic single stage paint and just like the more commonly posted 'Pinks to Reds' typical of this marque, I decided to post up this one!

I knew I'd like doing this one....

It also had some heavy keying inflicted by the usual sad crowd who can't resist damaging other people's property and leaving me with a challenge....

On arrival, generally faded along with those nasty keyings and some bird poo thrown in for good measure. In some places the paint had already gone through to the base, so my intention was to simply do as good as I could with it overall:

Prep Details - Autbrite Citrus Wash, Just the Tonic, Magifoam then washed with Banana Gloss along with the usual brushes around badges, etc. With the wheel being steel I couldn't do much with these and my friend might get some new wheel covers after seeing the end results.

As you can see from some of the before pics, they was visible contaminents, so I went through plenty of clay, here's a piece of Autobrite fine clay, after claying just a few inches! Self-Reminder - I need more clay now!

Paint was original all over and typically gave readings between 100 to 120 with a couple of soft spots (85 ish) on a couple of panel edges:

The car was then machined with the range of Autobrite polishes, with the scratches being given some heavier compounding to try to reduce the effect without removing all the paint of course!

    Obligatory 50/50:

Heres' the results, the scratches were reduced, although of course not gone all together...
Hope you like, it was a very pleasing detail to complete, LSP was Autobrite Seal and Protect, Tyres Bubblegum Trim, Plastics Abyss....

    And for the those scracthes:

Meanwhile the DS3s sat and waited, feeling neglected from their usual loving, lol: (yes, two different reds here):

    Regards,
    Clive.

Thanks All - just thought I'd add the sratches were greatly reduced, but definitely still there, the pics actually show less remaining than you can see with the naked eye, but it's definitely much improved.

Was very satisfying indeed - I love doing these older Vauxhalls (this is a Y reg one), as the improvement is such a marked one

The one was done at short notice too, as something else got cancelled so I was able to get it to me sooner than I would have anticipated

          Regards,
          Clive.

Hi, Thanks - I always try to make sure they have the basic idea of correct wash technique - and on the whole if someone wants to invest in having their car made to 'look good' again (or even to make it better than it came from the showroom which I equally enjoy doing), it's because they have an inherent interest in nice looking cars and so want to keep them that way. Some even come and do the Back to Basic course I instruct on.... the bit most people don't appreciate is if the car is prepped and then protected properly, with the right products and techniques it is then easy to to keep a car to this sort of standard....

              Regards,
              Clive.

Hi, I just want to say a big thank you to Clive and all the time he put in to get my wife's car to the condition it's in now .

As he said the key marks are still there but significantly reduced. I would gladly recommend him to other club members not just for his work but also for his advice. I'm a complete beginner when it comes to detailing but after a few chats I feel confident I can help my wife maintain the appearance of her car...... and she actually enjoys driving it now

                Cheers,

                Stu

How much is this service clive? mine has lots of swirls new from the dealer, but don't trust them to fix it.

Torres, drop me a PM, can discuss your car and go from there - but I do have quite a wait, just not enough time!
