Will do mate, never going to look as good as yours though, currently I don't treat the actual tyres, been impressed by how yours look, what product do you recommend ? Would be handy if Halfrauds sold it but can probably order some more stuff from online to make the order worthwhile

        Thanks

          Chris

For the tyres a good prep is essential to getting a good look.

A good scrub using a stiff brush

          and an all purpose cleaner

(Home Bargains/ Morrisons 99p)then rinsed with water gets them as clean as possible. Do this before you start detailing on the actual alloys. You don't want to clean the alloy then get it dirty again with the dirt from the tyre. After the alloy detail dry the tyres with a mf cloth or drying towel (Asda green or orange drying towel £1.50).

Drying towel is good enough for tyre and/or alloy but wouldn't recommend it on bodywork. A Wooly Mammoth is ideal for that.

Now the best tyre dressing in not just my eyes but a lot of "professional" detailers eyes is Meguiars Endurance gel (purple gel). This is readily available at Halfords for £9.99; sounds a lot but a little goes a very long way.

A cheap sponge cut to size (Asda 3 for a quid) is used as an applicator

A couple of lines of gel is enough for whole tyre

Dont forget to move car forwards/backwards about a foot to avoid missing application to the bottom of the tyre.

Leave for about half an hour then go around the tyre again with the same applicator this time without adding any gel. This helps reduce fling.

          Hope this helps?

          Andy

Just showing you alternative products with their much cheaper prices.

Hopefully more members may take a little more pride in their ride when they realise the only real cost is time to do a proper job.

Don't forget to post some pics pal

Spot on advice Andy....as usual...Megs Endurance is a great product.
I always rub it off later with an old MF towel to remove any excess......
or it can suffer from 'fling' and stain the alloys

Well it certainly looks like it's going to be a great weekend weather wise even in Bingley for receiving a new car and satisfying your detailing OCD.

Have a safe trip with the school to Malaysia mate
