AS Beefmasta said, use them if you want to - they DO clean the car - it's not a case of visible scratches - it's minute ones - also known as 'swirls' that they'll inflict - does it matter? - only if you're not bothered by the fact that swirls rob your car of depth of shine, depth of gloss, etc, etc.
In all honesty if I wanted to do detailing for a living (I do it out of passion) the £5 car washes do me a favour - a good proportion of people's cars I detail went to them, saw really well detailed cars then want to pay me to remove those swirls - indeed the same is true on the 'back to basics' car course I run with Autobrite - we spend all morning of the course on correct wash (moreover more 'pre-wash preparation'). I've enjoyed the correction of a few Aston Martin's that have been through the £5 jobs, the owners don't care 'correction' (removal of swirls to a near-perfect finish) can cost them £500 to a £1000 - why should they, they can afford it, and they get something better than showroom at the end....
But, there's no right or wrong answer - 99% of the population are happy with the £5 jobs. Of the remaining 1% most do decent washes by themselves - of the remaining 0.1% those owners want people like me and Andy to machine polish their cars. For me, it's pure passion, it's pure 'chasing perfection' - it has nothing to do with 'car washing' for me....you pick what you enjoy, some drink, some smoke, I chase perfection on car polishing and to an extent with my koi carp........
Conclusion - do what you want and what makes you feel good!
Any one else find this thread a bit raceist. Dont think the nationality of the workers matters. No one will pout the effort into some one elses car for £3 a h If you wont a fast wash there fine but if you wont the job done write do it yourself

Would be a strong argument if it did not have so many spelling errors.

Racist how? My local car wash is ran by Polish people who employ Polish people, am I not allowed to say their nationality?
Think you have the wrong end of the stick lads. Was just saying I think it would have been better if the thread wasn't singling out the Polish car washes and focussed more on all car washes. For me it doesn't matter ware the chap is from who washes the car If your paying £3 it will more or less be the same shabby job they do.
Sorry if I have offended any one.
