  • Car park car wash

I have been asked if a group of young people on work experience can use part of one of my car parks for a car wash project. I asked him several questions and below is a cut and paste of part of his reply. Detailers block your eyes!

"We would make sure all sponges and water is free from soil and gravel to avoid scratches. We would make sure the cars are parked far away enough to avoid doors colliding. We would be careful what products we use and always consider the safety of the car and the people around".

Sounds like a perfect opportunity for you to mentor a group of young entrepreneurs on their way to becoming productive members of society with clean swirl free cars!

Sounds like a crap opportunity to spend a boring day on a car park in the middle of Crewe to me - with teenagers who have no interest in learning anything!

Fantastic! I was in fact invited directly by the JCB Academy (how did they get my name? lol) to teach their keen kids on a one day 'proper wash' course so they could wash cars for charity - I did it all voluntarily of course! These kids were keen, but then they were in a great school with funding assistance (millions!) from Mr JCB and no entry fees to the school! Really appreciated them asking me and they want me back.

              - Jim caution my friend - the guys I did it with all had full insurance, etc, etc.

If they do b*gg*r a car up on your car park, who has legal responsibility?, etc, etc....

              Regards,
              Clive.

Thanks Clive - all insurance in place.

(And here was me thinking soil and gravel might help scrape the dirt off! )

Chris - I've got much more destructive plans for the end of the contract

I think its good giving youth a bit of a chance
I mean not everyone worries bout swirls and highly polished finishes
Some people just want a plain cleaned car
                      So fair play

What you got planned then Bobsy- pray tell

As it involves plans that may well be illegal I think I will keep the element of surprise!

Does the council get a fee for letting the yoofs use the car park ?

Would imagine the council need their little cut
Eases the burden on us ratepayers
Or lines the pocket of certain officials......Bobseeeeee

You could always tell the council they don't need a cut as most peoples paintwork will be getting minor 'cuts' inflicted for free!
