  • Car cleaning challenge

So I'm a new ds3 owner who wants to keep that shiney new look of her car, but has limited motivation and money to maintain such a look.
I challenge you lovely people to find me no more than 4 cleaning/polishing/waxing products on the halfords website that will allow me to keep daisy nice and sparkly, while not requiring hours of my time.
I would appreciate any tips, help or advice. Having trawled these threads I still don't know the difference between a wax and a polish, but have learnt the 2 bucket method at least

So good car car advice is here:

    http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/car-care-advice.html

they also do a great kit for White cars...

I'm sure the OCD Detailers will chip in with products soon

www.detailingworld.co.uk one good place for cleaning car advice I believe.
Polish is a solvent, wax is a protector - I think. Best person to help you on this forum is Clivep.

Hi Pepper, welcome to the club and firstly congratulations on learning the 2BM. A fantastic start in the upkeep of your car.

If it has to be no more than 4 products then:

Meguiars MF wash mitt (do not use a sponge)
        Meguiars Goldclass shampoo
        AutoGlym Super Resin Polish
        AutoGlym HD Wax

Very simply, polish creates the shine whilst wax protects the shine.

Use soft, clean microfibre cloths to remove polish and wax. The one provided by AG in the HD wax kit is sufficient enough. Always wash the cloths after each use in a washer using liquid detergent not powder (granules can get caught in the loom leading to swirls) and also do not use any fabric conditioner.

If youre limited to Halfords, then Andy's advice is sound
I would also add, that the use of a pressure washer and a pre wash with snowfoam with help to prevent scratches and swirls over time

Thanks Andy! You win the challenge. There is so much advice and so many products I though I need to set a limit and find a high street shop to source the things. Thanks for your help!

If you really want to save money try finding out who the supplier for AutoGlym Products in your area is, then you will be able to get your hands on the trade packs like I do - mega savings!!

5 litres of Super Resin Polish costs me only £24
