Pretty pi**ed off!!! Driving home from work today, see road works up ahead, slow down and before I know it I'm driving on a wet newley resurfaced road, no signs displayed until I'm driving on it and no way off. Drove as slow as possible and checked the car when I got home...... Yep the sides covered in tar! Went to the local car wash to jet wash off as much as possible, removed some of it but still some left on grrrrrr not much visible but the sides of the car and wheels feel tacky and rough. To cut a long story short I spoke to 4 people at the council until I found out who the sub contractor is, found out, spoke to them and they are sending the area manager round tomorrow to assess the damage. Hopefully they will re-imburse me the cost of having the paintwork rectified! I have spoke to a few local companies and the figure seems to be approx £150.00 to remove the tar deposits and protect the paintwork. Does this sound ok??? Thanks guys n dolls ps my car is 19 days old today!!!

Thanks Robbo, its the principal! If there was prior warning I would have chose to drive a different way home! It doesn't look to bad but feels awful! I don't want to cause damage trying to remove the contaminants plus I have 2 young children and work funny hours (on call constantly) so don't have the time to spend hours sorting it myself!

Thanks guys, they have agreed to pay for the detail but want to use a local company who i have already forwarded on a quotation from and can provide a VAT invoice so it's booked in for next week! Not a bad result I'd say? Lol originally they offered for '2 of the lads' to use a solvent they use on the machinery to remove the tar! Erm no thanks!

Hi,
Bad luck, what a bummer.
Make sure the detailers they've chosen use proper techniques, post their details here and Andy/Robbo or I will advise!
No sponges please - we want your pride and joy to remain that way.
If you were nearer to me I'd sort the tar for you for nothing....Full Details are different and definitely not free (unless you're the tax man or a tax man is reading this, in which all are free for everyone) but I'm way over booked anyway for my 'hobby'
