  • Garage cleaned my car

Everyone's dread, I had spent a few hours on Saturday polishing & sealing the car first proper one this year.
The car was due it's first mot Wednesday and always think clean car helps it pass not that it should have failed just think its a good impression, so car went in gleaming still after few days. To my horror the wife said when was home" car passed mot everything ok, and by the way they cleaned the car". omg I thought oh know wish I had said to tell them not to do that but did not expect the courtesy clean after an mot. As you can imagine all budding detainers, it was not good car was swirled and dirtier than going in.
I had one of them courtesy emails asking for feedback so was going to go in anyway but thought would pass on some friendly feedback, like you should have asked me before cleaning my car!
To my surprise had callback today from Swansway Citroen, Huntington Chester. The manager apologised
took on board my constructive feedback and said they had a meeting this morning and have changed there policy in presuming people wanted there car washed, they have recently took over this garage by the way.
He then offered me a free SUreguard protection usual cost £250. Always been offered these before when buying a new car but never took it up, but thought for free was not bad and seems very generous to be
offered this I was not looking for recompense but just wanted to give some advice that lots of DS3 owners have read previous bad things about dealers cleaning cars but was glad they seemed to listen.

Has anyone else had this done is it any good?

I had it on my first car, and it was good, not worth £250, but I'm guessing that includes the labour.

As long as they do it properly and don't leave it in the joints it is worth it for free.

Just make sure the car is fly/tar free as I can't see them giving it a proper clean beforehand...
    sigpic.

You should insist instead of a Sureguard treatment you demand the car is professionally corrected.
How can you be confident they will apply this treatment correctly when they have proved that they can't even wash a car properly.
They had no right to "clean" your car without your permission whether it's a courtesy clean or not.

Andy only spoke to you other night about getting mitt etc and this happens, that was my main point they should not have presumed I wanted the car cleaning, but they do seem genuine and disappointed it had happened.

Sorry to hear this Darren. Lesson learnt I'm afraid. You MUST insist whenever it goes into a garage for ANYTHING that they do not touch it and that includes an interior vac. Make sure it is written on the job sheet before you hand over the keys.

Pm me your email address and I will email you over a Do Not Wash sign PDF that you can print off and leave in your car to prevent a repeat in the future.

They can clean all they want on the inside of my car,

Think that's the only place where I put no effort in apart from a quick hover and dust down....

Sure you meant a quick hoover?

Anyway a word of caution; never use a petrol stations vacuum cleaner as taxi drivers use them for cleaning up after passengers have been sick in their cabs.

Sorry to hear about this I use Stoneacre Wrexham personally, and they washed my car after it went in for a diagnostic last year, similar to you I'd only just cleaned it 20ish miles before. Came back dirtier, luckily they didn't go near my black alloys with a skanky brush!

Haven't been to Chester dealer since it was Hartwells, why the changeover?

                          Hi Chris
Swansway new in Chester as Peugot dealer down on Sealand Road last year, think there just branching out in the area,
Hartwell was pretty crap dealer anyways, cars going in Thursday for this free Sureguard protection now.

Got the car back today from the free Sureguard paint protection, don't think the picture does it enough justice. The paintwork feels so clean, I imagine like claying does silky!, and a beautiful deep sheen to finish. Really pleased with it, hats off to Swansway in Huntington. Chester for doing this and still very apologetic for making it a mess in the first place.
