  • I need a good product to go back to ''bare paint''

    Hi,

I'm looking for a product that will be good at removing all the rubbish on the car, but also at removing any products that are left on the car so that I can start from scratch regards cleaning the car.

    After a clean it's still dirty. =[

Andy has some very good posts in numerous threads that I fully intend to use, but haven't come across anything like this yet. I suppose it's because your cars are all relatively new so you probably don't have that problem, where as mine is 16 years old & black, so not a particularly good combination.

    Thanks

Sounds like you need a machine polish mate. Get the DA on the go lad

        2MB wash
        Rinse
        IronX
        Rinse
        Detar
        Rinse
        G3 clay mitt
        Rinse
        Polish
        Wax/seal

No doubt someone will be along to talk about machine polish as I know nothing about that.

              Hi Tom.

I would firstly give the car:

a good non-diluted pre rinse with BH Surfex HD. This non-diluted is not LSP safe so will get it squeaky clean.

Follow this with a rinse then a 2BM using a strong mixture of Farecla G3 Detox shampoo.

Next, use a clay mitt. Fareclas mitt is a very good one.

After the clay mitt then a good application of CarPro Eraser.

Eraser is a unique formula designed to totally strip paint of oil and polish residues leaving a squeaky clean surface so sealants and waxes get a better bond to the paint after polishing.

CarPro Eraser Intense Oil & Polisher Cleanser is truly a better solution to clean paint. Traditionally IPA, or ispropyl alcohol and water mixture has been used to strip paint, but IPA can actually redeposit oils and residues. Eraser dissolves these products completely and erases them from your paint's finish.

Use CarPro Eraser Intense Oil & Polish Cleanser before applying any product that needs a perfectly clean finish to bond to.

              Hope this helps?

                This is good stuff thanks.

Will start to collect these things ready for the summer. Probably won't use them until it's nice weather all day so I can really give it a go.

This is used after you have polished but before wax, is that correct Andy?

It strips the paintwork of any polish residues so if its wiped after the polish application then the polish is then gone Gaz.
If machine polishing, use Eraser after the machine polish to get rid of the compound residues. If polishing by hand (SRP for example), then a panel wipe with Eraser can be done before the polish but not essential.

Seen this quote on carpro website "Use CarPro Eraser Intense Oil & Polish Cleanser after compounding or polishing to inspect your work, or before applying any product that needs a perfectly clean finish to bond to."

                          also
"An IPA, or isopropyl alcohol and water mixture, is used to remove polish residue and fillers from auto paint before a wax or paint sealant is applied."

This suggest it removes residues and not all the polish as sites i have read say you use this after the polishing process, am i reading this wrong?

I read it as and use it after machine compounding and machine polishing Gaz.
The IPA quoted is not the same as Eraser. Does a similar job but Eraser is more user friendly.

It's that good a product, discount is not needed JB. But FYI, Halfrauds just had 3 for 2.
