Hi Folks - just picked up the new wheels last weekend - the Dstyle Pls Cabrio - Ruby Red with the black roof. Lovely! What do you guys recommend using for cleaning the roof? Also what waterproofing stuff is best? Thanks! :eek:

For the protection, I have used on the past to good effect Gtechniq I1 smart fabric. Its highly oil and water repellent and makes ordinary fabrics waterproof and easy to clean. Can be used from sails, tents and awnings to your cars fabric soft top and interior.

You need to clean the fabric top first using an all purpose cleaner (APC), thoroughly rinse then allow to dry. Once dry, soak the fabric with the I1 and allow to dry. Job done. A 500ml bottle will do 5 square metres.

Just spoke to a guy to ask how he cleans his Audi TT cab roof.
APC in warm water, spray a light coat of APC mix over the roof and then with a sponge and suede brush gently agitate it. Then rinse with an open ended hose. Allow to dry and then protect it with I1.

Also NEVER fold the roof back when the fabric is wet.

On the DS3 the roof gets 'squeezed' thus putting water into your car, plus it can cause the materiel to stretch.

Hey guys, as an avid detailer I am very interested to read the above. I have a new Cabrio on order and have only had hard top CC's before and did not really think about how to clean and waterproof the soft top. Where is the best place to walk in and buy the best products? What do Halfords do? What specifically am I looking for?
