I used up all my IronX during my last detail, the Alpine White BMW, a couple of weeks ago and needed some more for this weekends forthcoming white Range Rover Sport. Popped to Cleanyourcar but they were sold out so opted for BiltHamber Korrosol. £13.95 for 1L.
Here's the product description:
Bilt Hamber Korrosol is a controlled pH non-alkaline fallout remover for the safe and effective removal of embedded metallic particles that contaminate the vast majority of road going vehicles. You may not have noticed by looking at your paintwork, but next time it’s washed and clean lightly feel the paintwork, especially the horizontal panels; bonnet, boot lid, roof etc. Very gently with finger tip touch you’ll be able to feel a rough grittiness. You may well think this is dust landed from the air – it’s not. Airborne metallic particles liberated by braking surfaces, such as pads and discs fill the air along our roads, when hot after the car in front of you brakes your car travels through them, as a result they embed themselves in your paintwork.
Once on the paintwork, they react with rainwater or air moisture and begin to corrode and as the corrosion product (rust) occupies four times the space of iron the paint is slowly ruptured around the embedded particle. This action destroys both the aesthetic and protective qualities of the finish.
While harsh acids such as phosphoric and oxalic acids maybe use with good effect to remove the contamination, these acids to not discriminate between corrosion and good steel not even paint films themselves, so while the particle is removed and base metals or coatings can also be attacked. korrosol’s effective formula is simply sprayed onto the contaminated panel a rapid and dramatic colour change takes place which indicates that the corroded part is water soluble after which a rinse with water leaves the panel free of metallic embedment.
Bilt Hamber Korrosol is safe to use on all auto body paint finishes including lacquers.
Features & Benefits:
Quickly & safely removes metal particles from paintworkSpray on, wait for the colour change & rinse away. Non-alkaline, pH-controlled solution.
So on with the review.
These fallout removers normally stink to high heaven of rotten eggs but not this one. Detected a cherry like, certainly not unpleasant odour.
Alloys get the most decontaminated by this kind of fallout, most specifically the dust from from the hot brake pads so using the front nearside alloy for the test.
Did not clean it first as you can see:

Sprayed on and left to dwell and react:

Turning red after just 30 seconds:

After 60 seconds:

After 90 seconds:

Left a few more minutes then used a large Wheel Woolie that had been pre-soaking in a bucket of warm water containing Power Maxed Shampoo and Ultra Wax to agitate Korrosol on the inside of the alloy:

Face of alloy was washed using a microfibre noodle mitt, again pre-soaked in the bucket of warm water containing Power Maxed Shampoo and Ultra Wax.
Rinsed with hose to leave this fantastic result:

Inside of alloy looked fantastic too:

Overall a brilliant product, as good if not better than IronX due to much better smell and quicker reaction times. Cheaper too.

Will update next week after using the Korrosol on the RRS bodywork.
