  • Engine Choice Advice, Special Addition B/W

Hello Guys, I am just about to place my order for a new DS3. Might hold out for the New Reg in March but knowing me might take the plunge next week.

Im looking at getting a Special Addition White or Black but I am unsure which engine to choose. The dealer recommended the Diesel, but I have never owned a Diesel and not sure if its what I am after.

    Engine Choices of Special Addition
    Petrol - 1.6 120hp VTI
    Diesel - 1.6 90hp HDI

Surely the Petrol gives better performance with extra hp but the Diesel will be considerably more economical.

I am after something which feels sporty and isnt sluggish on the motorway and country lanes, as thats where most of my miles are done. But don't want something which will drink fuel. Needs to be pretty economical. Im coming from a 1.4 Citroen C4 2008 90HP.

    Thanks

I Recommend The Diesel Mate... The Turbo Helps It Alot Where The 120 Petrol Doesn't Have A Turbo...

I'd go with the Diesel (I did) it aint sluggish at all and eats the miles with ease.... btw its a Special Edition and go for the White...it has the sports seats which are far better

All the diesels have a turbo on board.

I would go for the diesel as well, but best advice is to try them out yourself and you will know which one suit you best. The problem with asking this sort of question is that everybody will have an opinion! Speak to your dealer about test drives, don't panic if he doesn't have petrol or diesel DS3 as the C3 shares the same engines and you will get a feel from them too.

The 90 diesel certainly does have a turbo

At £1.30 per litre, I'd say diesel every time! Also, cheaper road tax.

The 90hp diesel is perfectly capable on motorways and country roads. Plenty of torque through the gears.

I just got delivery of my Special Edition (White) Diesel 90. LOVE IT! And I drove it home on the M5. More power than I was expecting having come from a 1.9 TDI VW. Cruise Control was wonderful! Love this car!!!

I tried the Black, didn't like the seats as much as the ones in the White

Thanks everyone, great advice. I currently have a 1.4 90BHP Citroen C4 SX. Can anyone compare specs on the engine and tell me what differences I will feel? I really don't want to purchase and wish it felt a little more sportier.

I am going to purchase a White DS3 Special Addition just need to pick engine!

Also, Does anyone know if it is possible to get additions such as the boot subwoofer or bluetooth connectivity or chrome sidestrips when you purchase? I know that its a fixed spec car but just wondering if options like this are possible?

                              Thanks
