One nugget of info that's been given me by both the dealer who sold me the car and the dealer who looks after it was. If you use fuel from the supermarkets put a tank full of big name brand in for every 3 of supermarket stuff...............mine seems to thrive on that mix

Thanks! I'll do that to be on the side of caution.

There's all sorts of here-say about what you should and shouldn't do with cars. Seems very little objective evidence though.

Some people advocate a gentle break-in period. Others say you should "heat cycle" the engine by letting it warm up, driving it hard, then letting it cool down several times - and then change the oil after 1000 miles! Not sure if that would be so necessary with a diesel engine.

What's needed is a placebo, double blind, randomised controlled trial of these things. But that only seems to happen in medical research - but the principles are valid for this purpose to!

I drove back from Derby with mine at speeds of up to 85 (did I say that), I always recon that its overreving that'll cause damage with a new engine (am on my 6th new Citroen) and have always treated them the same way

get in it, drive to a stretch of fast flowing bends, drive legally to the end to check for plod, turn around and drive it back the other way like your arse is on fire.

I have driven my 110 HDi like a getaway driver form the Sweeney from day 1, 19k miles, 3rd set of front tyres but it's not missed a beat.

I love my Dizzy almost as much as my old lurcher hound!!! (and the wife too I guess)
