    Tow bar & bike rack

    Hi all

    Big DS3 fan, just about to get second one for the missus after she has been driving the first one for 3 years.

    Wondering whether any of you use tow bar mounted bike racks for bikes at all?

    Got a trip with a few mates lined up for September and thinking I could take the DS3 for a spin.

    Is it advisable to try to get a tow bar and mount this baby on the back? Can you fit a detachable tow ball and what's the deal with weight on the back?

    Searching the forum I noticed most people have rear-mounted racks - hate those as they tend to scratch the paintwork...

    Seeing that you already have the carrier makes sense to just put a tow bar on. Citroen has a detachable one for the DS3.

        Tow bars normally can take up to 70kg on the nose weight, check in with you dealer or tow bar supplier for correct numbers.

              I had the removable tow bar fitted when I bought my DS3. As is mentioned in the other thread, they have to cut away a little bit of the 'diffuser' at the bottom of the bumper, but it's on the hidden edge under the car and to look at the car from the back you'd have no idea. The tow bar attach point sits under the diffuser. I only got the tow bar to hang a Thule cycle rack off of and it works a treat. I just stow the tow bar in the boot when I don't need it.

                Cool that sounds great - just like the one I have on my Alfa Giulietta. Do you remember how much your dealer charged you for it?

                    Fixed towbar £160, removable towbar £290 both prices inclusive of vat and fitting. Might need an additional wiring kit that might cost extra. Prices might vary between dealers.
