Dbrewood has a Brodit and it's very impressive. Not cheap though which is what the OP requested

Looked for a while for a decent phone holder, spider ones that wrecked the vents, and ones that never worked
Ended up with one that cost about £3, and it works for me
Not sure about one that fits near the gearstick, most are screen/ quarterlight screen attached
