oil level and oil use

So started the car and it sounded like a morraca on steroids again... So checked the oil lever had quarter the stick left... I have done 1200miles since I picked it up and the oil level was full... Am I using to much oil?? And what grade oil do I put in..

Seems a fair bit, but all cars different. When mine had a noise i didnt like when the winter started last year, changed the oil, and its not been heard since. Could be your timiNg chain loosened a bit, as maybe tensioner not doing its job properly, but thats guessing obvs

Oil is Total Quartz Ineo ECS 5w-30

Bit of cardboard under the engine overnight to see if its dropping any. Must be loosing or burning.

The VTi/THP engines do tend to be noisy when first started but soon settle once the engine warms up a bit, in regards to oil different engines will use different amounts so it is hard to judge but if you think that it is excessive then check the engine bay and floor for any signs that you might have a leak.

If I'm reading your post correctly you checked the oil level immediately after the engine had run for a few seconds from cold. If so, you will have got a low reading as the oil will not have drained back to the sump. I find it best to check after the car's been standing overnight, but as long as every check is done under the same conditions you'll get a true picture of how much oil it's using.

Thanks guys... I know I have a leak out my breather on top would that be a cause... It went into Citroen today they said breather was most likely to be from pipe falling off previously.. even though I told him.it has gotten worse from when I first noticed it.. what made me want to take his silly shiny black shoes off him and slap him with them.. but it's booked in Friday for a funny noise the clutch makes when you pull off and it's under load like pulling up onto a curb or steep hill.. so I will mention breather again.. if nothing is done it will be going into my mates garage who I trust and get a lovable persons discount haha.
