  • THP Engine change

Citroen has today release a PIB stated that the THP 155 engine will finished production in November this year until further notice.

The engine is to be replace with a new Euro 6 compliant THP 165 engine which is equipped with Stop & start technology. This engine is pegged as having a combined MPG of 50 and a CO2 figure of 129G/Km which makes it more efficient then the older engine it replaces.

No technical data as of yet but will put something up as and when I get it.

about time really, lets hope though the new engine can handle carbon deposits better, and they use a timing belt and not the old chain if you get any more info bigfeet, please let us know.

Is that a good engine as we're considering a Mini (wife wants a Cooper Coupe S, I fancy the 2.0L Hatch) for next year.

My mum is getting a brand spanking new Countryman Cooper SD in 2 weeks D. Needless to say, she has instructed Mini not to prep it prior to handover so I can get my hands on it for her

BMW has wisely decided to no longer use the Prince (THP) type engine in the new generation of MINI cars.

We were actually considering buying the Mini Coupe S (excuse OT woffle), but when I found out the Hatch hatch has an 'improved' 2.0L engine and XL SatNav I decided that it was likely that the rest of the range would likely be refreshed with both those updates we decided to wait to see if this was the case. The Mini sales guy says not but.......

As, it would appear, has PSA. The PureTech engine replaces the lower-powered versions & Biggie refers to the THP 165 as a brand new engine.

Not sure about that as this change is more to do with Euro V rules then anything else.

Looks like it's not a brand new engine, just a modified version of the existing THP - it's been on sale in China since March:
