  • Winter tyres fitted, rims protruding

    Howzit guys,

So had new winter tyres put on the front of my car and I've noticed that the rims seem to protrude more than they did before with the old tyres, as well as compared to the back ones.

Back Rims with all season tyres:

    Front Rims with winter tyres:

Is that due to the tyre, or them not being fitted properly?
Or worst case scenario, I'm being a spanner again.....

Doesn't look like they have 'beaded' right to me, the tyre sizes are the same as standard aren't they?

It does look like the "built into the tyre" raised edge rim protector is not that good
Not sure if they look incorrectly fitted, would need to see them real life
You have a receipt from a proper tyre place?

What type Pirelli's are they. I have Pirelli winter Snowsport 240's on, and could take a photo to compare if you like

Fitted at Youngs Motors Ambleside. I don't think I have the invoice for fitment, but I've used them over the years so if it needs sorting, I don't seem a problem from them for doing it.

The only thing I can think of is that it's an 88H and my rear tyres are 88Z...

I hope you have Winter tyres all round, as it's pretty dangerous with just Winter tyres on the front.

Think the letter just dictates max speed

Personally, would always get an invoice/ receipt for any work done on a car, unless its so cheap I wouldn't care (80% off)
If something goes amiss, you refer to the works done on the receipt.....

Looks like there's a gap between the tyre & the inside of the rim that can't be right

Dangerous lol... where I come from, the verdict of 2 Winter Tyres on the front would be called "Great Craic"

You do have a point there Soran but unless you plan to drive in heavy snow then just the two up front will make cold weather driving better.
