  • Citroen dealer issue

So, I've posted previously.. I have a problem with the car. I got the garage where my service was done to read the fault codes, it brought up a turbo sensor as at fault intermittently.

I booked it in to Citroen Friday just gone, they had the car for 30mins and said I'd needed to change tyres as they were barely legal limit. I said no to a tyre change as I'm getting some blueearths fitted this Friday. Anyway, it had legal limit on tyres.. Enough fuel for another 50-60 miles.(fuel light on).

They had the car for nearly 4 hours. I assumed it was being fixed. Phoned up to ask, and they told me the issue was a problem for quite awhile befor and cleared the fault. (Not fixing it). They then told me that they'd done a few other things. (I didn't believe this). I'd checked on the sheet of jobs they had, when she went to get my key that my car was completed by 10am. (They looked at it for half an hour tops)

Once I got my keys, they'd told me to make sure I change tyres or they wouldn't even look at it again.

If the car is in warranty, they've cleared the fault code.. (I've still got the initial document with the same fault code). The same things just happened again, car struggling to go about 50 before it begins to judder. Turbo not kicking in. Now if I take it back down and all they do is clear the fault code.. What's the point of warranty? What's the point in fault codes if the car is needed for a test drive? (This was the reason they said). The fault code states intermittent... Surely you'd believe the ECU over a test drive.

    Any thoughts on this?

Hi Darryl- As its a new thread can you remind us that its a THP? and if so what month/year of manufacture, and whether the warranty remaining is Citroen or dealer warranty. Has any other work been done in the past (Timing chain stuff or any other history) and whether you've had it new or is there a previous owner.

This is all important to try have a guess at the fault, which obvs there is as no-one denies there is a fault code (What did the fault code identify specifically.. P Code?)
They don't seem to be that customer supportive to be honest, but if tyres are only just legal they wont want to test drive it.

Havent come across a dodgy turbo making a DS3 judder severely, as yet, but if it is check out the DV to start

Just keep taking it back........for the moment. Depending on age, maybe contact CUK.

      Hi Chris,

      Its a 62reg, 1.6 hdi d style + 90.

Less than 15k on clock. I leased it with 5 mile on, recently purchased it. Citroen warranty.. Then the year after its an extra years warranty with car plan or something.

The fault code before it was wiped was P2562.

Can't read it now as I don't have a reader. But it was the same issue last time. Do fault codes have date:time of occurance?

      Cheers

            Nice, thank you.

My main concern is as it's under warranty... How will I know if they've fixed it? Because as it's currently intermittent, I can't replicate it at demand.

They'll have seen the code for that, then wiped it though. That's my concern.

I'd imagine it'd have logged the event again the other day when the same thing happened though. All I can do it get these new tyres fitted, then take it back down. It's a shame I can't get a reader myself to see it. They'll be quite cheap I'd imagine?

Do they also log time/date of occurrence?

Have you spoken with CUK regarding your poor experience or tried another dealers?

Pete's link suggests there may be an issue with one of the sensors. That would ring true if the turbo is taking a long time to spool or not spooling at all.

I'd recommend logging your concerns with CUK so that they can speak with the dealership directly on your behalf and find out what changes they have made so far. If CUK believe everything has been done correctly and there isn't a fault with the engine I'd suggest getting that in writing and taking it to an independent garage to investigate.

Assume you are getting twitchy as the 3 year warranty is almost up
Suggest you read carefully the wording of the warranty that is in place after that

Am not aware of CUK getting involved in any DS3 related issue, after the 3 year mark

You should be able to read fault codes with one of these, plus the torque free app. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00DY3EZSI

It plugs into the ECU port which is in the glovebox behind the fuse cover.

I got in touch with CUK on twitter. I've DMed then the dealership/reg number and my contact details. They've told me I'd be getting contacted within 2 working days. Thanks on the reader, I'll get one as it'll always come in handy.

Just an update. I've got the reader but didn't have a fault on the ECU. Problem is, the issue keeps occurring. Any chance the rreader isn't in depth enough?

Its going back to Citroen tomorrow anyway.

Yep- code readers are a bit hit and miss, and can clear themselves
And some issues dont record a code

My code reader detailed a fault as it happened, then i went back into it several times to make a note of the code, but couldnt find it again

Took it into the dealers and they found 2 codes (Thankfully)

It's a bit like the fault logger available via the Menu button on my head unit, sometimes it tells me there is a bulb blown, other times it doesn't, as was the case last weekend when one of the Nightbreaker Ultimate's had gone !

Got the car back today, it's been in Citroen since this morning.

The person who test drove the car thankfully experienced the judder.

He told me it's a software glitch which makes the engine become hesitant, or something along these lines! Anyway, he'd updated the software.

I'll know whether it's fixed myself, when I run from a cold start anyway. When I went in this morning, he asked if it was a diesel - he must've had an inkling as to the issue. Fingers crossed.
