  • Graunching sound!

    Hi folks

I'm noticing a clunking/graunching/something loose sound that seems to be coming from the front nearside wheel area.
Checked underneath but can't see anything.
    Any ideas?

Might be a anti-roll bar or even the track rod.

is it when your turning on full lock?

Nope - mostly when I hit rough ground i.e. nearly everywhere these days!

Hmm, now that you mention this, I sometimes get a clunk when turning on full lock. Haven't really paid attention to it before, should I?

Well then my money is definitely on suspension then, anti-roll bar would be my prime suspect.

Mine clunks in full lock reverse. Asked Citroen when it was in for a service and they said something about a straight line gear box and its normal.

But that's on mine, if yours has only started JB then I'd take it in. Welcome to pop to my work and see if the noise mine makes is the same as yours?

I was getting an intermittent graunchy sound at full lock, especially in the cold.
I was told it was the front wheels/tyres juddering, which seemed far fetched/unlikely to me, but when I had my new wheels and winter tyres fitted recently , it's gone away completely, so there may well be something in it.....

Cheers Joni - booked it in for tomorrow so will be "working from home" for the day!

my old megane did it, but that was when steering mainly on full lock, it was the CV joint but i ignored it for so long it knackered something on the other side and cost £400

                        UPDATE!

Had it in the garage. Both track rod ends and anti roll bars fine. They simply greased the top connection on the shock.

Good news - they didn't even charge me!
Bad news - still making the noise as bad as ever!

They didn't identify the issue then?

                            No

Said if all else failed they would change the top bush on the shocker but sounds like they don't really know.

                              Rubbish!

Is it constant or only when cornering?
