  • Sad news about Sir Terry Pratchett

Fantasy author Terry Pratchett has died aged 66 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

"The world has lost one of its brightest, sharpest minds," said Transworld Publishers' Larry Finlay.

Sir Terry, best known for the Discworld series, wrote more than 70 books over his lengthy career.

He was first diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2007, but continued writing, completing his final book last summer.

The author died at home, surrounded by his family.

Mr Finlay said he was "deeply saddened" by the news of Sir Terry's death.

"In over 70 books, Terry enriched the planet like few before him. As all who read him know, Discworld was his vehicle to satirize this world: He did so brilliantly, with great skill, enormous humour and constant invention.

"Terry faced his Alzheimer's disease (an 'embuggerance', as he called it) publicly and bravely. Over the last few years, it was his writing that sustained him. His legacy will endure for decades to come.

"Fantasy isn't just about wizards and silly wands. It's about seeing the world from new directions"

I'm a big geek and definitely a fantasy book lover. Terry was a HUGE name in the fanatsy book world, and my Dad's Bookshelves are full of Pratchett.

I was devastated. I've grown up with and own practically everything he's written, including all the Dsicworld books.

It was so sad seeing the final tweets from his account and so fitting too.

I never got to meet one of the greatest writers of my time. The one guy I would have loved to shake by the hand and thank.

I'll leave this quote from one of my favourite books Mort.
"People don't alter history any more than birds alter the sky, they just make brief patterns in it"

I think Sir TP was an exception.

I was devastated too - I have been a fan for over 20 years -and own everything he's written, including a first edition of his first book published in 1971. I was a children's librarian for a few years back when the Truckers series first came out and had the joy of introducing this amazing writer to an eager audience of young readers, and later guiding them towards the Discworld. October just won't be the same without the anticipation of a new book. The "embuggerance" is truly a horrible thing, I lost my Mum to it a month ago - I hope she and Sir TP are raising a two fingers to it and sharing a banana daquairi and a laugh in a better place.

my heart goes out for the first time when i read this news and you can hire anyone about writing to write for you through aussie essay writing which is cheap and high in quality rate and they post new articles online to update their customer with news, its been a pretty long time since I have sharing their articles with my friends.
they have liked this pretty much though also you can say its not that common for anyone to follow their updates
