  • Tyres query/Suspension?

Hi all, I've got a DStyle plus on bellones. Just wondering which tyre is the best. When I bought the car it was on tyres called 'Jingu'? Honestly never heard of this tyre manufacturer before. Its got quite a hard ride so I'm suspecting its the budget tyres on it. I have been quoted £50 for evergreens which I thinks quite good. Could you tell me either is the dampers or the tyres?
    Kind regards

First thing to bear in mind is that DS3s do have a firm ride.

Buying cheap tyres is a false economy - if you buy the Evergreen tyres all you're doing is replacing one set of Chinese ditchfinders with another set of Chinese ditchfinders.

Edit: looks like Jinyu, if that's what you've got, are actually Malaysian - still crap, though!

Mine came with Michelin Pilot Exalto's and they're awesome in all conditions so far, the fronts only last 26k miles but I bought another pair as they are v grippy in the wet.

Have Potenza's on mine from new, but will be changing to the Michelin Pilot's soon, so good to hear this!

Have just swapped to Goodyear Eagle assemetric 2's what a difference quiet, grippy & a more supple ride won't be looking at anything else ever again far better than Bridgestone adrenaline which I though were brilliant before trying these not cheap at £120 per corner but worth every penny read the reviews at tyre reviews.co.uk

The Potenzas are absolutely awful. When I first got my DS3 I was so disappointed with the handling compared to my C2 Code and could feel the car trying to understeer on one specific long 70mph corner that the C2 managed fine. Swapped to Toyo Proxes T1R (some people like them, some don't) when the they needed replacing and the increase in grip was noticeable straight away. No complaints at all, even in the wet.

I think I actually had Pilot PE2 on my C2 and they were really good.

I don't know if it is because I have a newer DSport than yours but I have never in two years of driving had any handling issues with my car because of the tyres! So sorry to disagree but I don't think the Potenzas are awful but I have taken advice and will be buying the Pilots which I expect to do a similar bit slightly improved job.

They don't last because they're a softer compound, made to grip the road.

I was talking about the Proxes.

I think the PE2's are supposed to be softer for the same reason but I didn't think 26k was too bad for that level of grip.

I think it depends how you drive tbh. I got 24k out of my Bridgestones on my first DS3. 'Enthusiastic' was the word used when I had my checkup at 20k, lol.

Potenzas aren't awful, theyre just not very good in the wet, or in my opinion at high speed, or icy conditions
For the same cost you can get a better tyre- I feel much safer on Michelin Pilot Sport 3s. Better in the wet, and icy, and for cornering they tend to hold better at higher speeds.
