Gutter Strips

Hello All

I am a newbie to the forum and need some help please, I have checked to see if any previous posts cover this ... ( sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this...but )

I have a shark grey DS3 and will be putting on some roof bars so I can take my mountain bike out

What I need to ask is do I need to replace the gutter strips or can I leave them 'empty' as they cost £30+ I was going to leave them off and put them back on when I sell the car


just wondered if any holes were under strips and if it would generate wind noise / perhaps damage the car etc

Any feedback would be much appreciated

I've never personally fitted roof bars to the DS3 so I won't be of much help I'm afraid.

I've seen how much grime the edges of the standard rails can collect so can only imagine this would be worsened with leaving room for more standing water.

Hopefully someone should be along soon whose been in the same boat as you.

I went for a towbar for my bike rack, I used to have roof bars on my c2 and over the years trashed the roof, with the towbar this keeps the bikes mud etc away from the car. Loads easier!

thanks your comments so far, I have actually had an issue with strips causing a metallic type of tick tick tick noise, when I have pressed the strips down it
stops for awhile them comes back ! so would be good to get rid of them if I can get away with it, the car went back to Citroen 4 times from new last Aug
before they worked out that was the problem!
