  • 1.6thp 155hp 2013

    Hello, new to this forum.

My partner has a 1.6 thp 155hp 2013, it has a loud noise on the timing chain every now and then. Most of the time it makes a noise when the engine is cold Or when under heavy load.
I read somewhere that the 155hp should not get this problem...
I did a recording and it was nearly doing this noise everyday now. We took it to the main dealer and they have phoned up saying they have checked it all and it is all ok which I know is BS!
they want to give the car back to us with nothing fixed, has anyone had any issues with these or have any ideas how we can get the citron dealer to fix the problem?
oh also they tried to say it was meant to be like that and it was how those engines are lol

    Your advice is greatly appreciated.

The thp155 still get this problem.
Mine has a noisy timing chain, mostly when cold - and has slowly been getting worse (now just under 30000kms)
Dealer says it's fine and nothing to worry about, so i'm hoping it gets worse enough to change BEFORE my warranty expires at the end of the year.

From my opinion, that seems to be the only way to get them to change it... have the chain get REALLY noisy, so they will have to.

Snap- with both of you. Except not taken mine to dealers yet
Has made a horrible clatter a couple times in the last week, and think its timing chain. Just the first minute on start up, but then sometimes have to switch off and restart

After reading the top 2 posts, I might as well wait until it gets worse before I take it in
One of the reasons I upgraded from a THP 150 to a 13 plate 155 was thought the timing chain issues had been sorted. Seems not.

Luckily ive got the option to return the car next March 2016, but don't really want to.

Oh lol, I wonder what is the cause. You would of thought Citroën would have made it a recall and fitted better components.
well I need to phone the Dealer tomorrow who have the car and as we have only had it 2 weeks I am going to say repair it or take it back. It's a shame as my partner really loves the car and I must say it is a very nippy little motor ☺

Just a report, Citroen have finally heard the noise and are replacing all the Timing Chain and components under warranty! It helps to just leave it there and dont answer their calls whilst you have their courtesy car LOL
