  • Could I buy the registration number of a car I once owned?

    Hi
For sentimental reasons, I'd quite like to get hold of the registration of a car I used to own in the 80s and put it on my DS3. I've done Google searches but come up a blank as most of them seem to offer private plates. Can anyone recommend a way to find it? It wasn't a private plate, just an ordinary reg number. Looking on the DVLA site, it appears the car went off the road in 1994.
    Thanks.

The reg number sites wouldn't have it as it has already been issued and is likely of zero value to anyone but you.
I think you'll struggle, it appears the tax must have run in the last 12 months or there have been no break in sorn.

Thanks. It doesn't look very promising.

Was the car scrapped then the reg number is lost and may appear at sometime back in the DVLA system.

Your best option is to first see if the reg is still in use by using a HPI service like Car Checker, if it is still in use you might be able to make an information request through the DVLA for the details of the current holder but I wouldn't get your hopes up.
