  • Mod/Improvements with a car on finance

    Hi all,

Joined about a week ago to ask a question about my wing mirrors... now I find myself browsing the depths of this forum on a daily basis!
Got my Black DSport a couple of months ago, absolutely love it, amazing drive.
Although it is on finance and I see everyone's mods/upgrades/improvements and I'm gagging to do something to mine.

Performance wise I obviously won't be able to change but what and how far can I go visually with it being on finance and handing it back in a couple of years?

    Couple of pics below too!

    Thanks

Window tints, vinyl/plastidip parts, extra chrome trim, etc..

Wrapping's going to be your best bet to get something unique. It's fully removable and shouldn't need to be declared to your insurers or finance company (best to double-check though)

Have you seen mine? My first DS3 was Red Edition and I changed a few bits and when I handed it back the dealership loved it so much they told me to leave most of it on!

I have just bought a new 165thp same colours as yours and already wrapped grill, lights, mirrors, some of roof, fuel cap, stripe down side, fog surrounds, and some roof bits. New pipercross air filter and fitted the zunsport grille. New wheels, wind deflectors and aerial done. Got the splitter coming this week too. These are all easy enough to swap back if needed
If in doubt have a little chat with the dealership. I'm lucky that my local garage at John Grose are all awesome!

There should be a build thread called Evil Edition Mk2 under the mods section but this is the original red edition I had...

Good man! Dealer didn't even bother putting a sticker on mine because he knew I'd take it straight off.

As for mods, your dealer is the best person to discuss it with. I can't see them having any issues with cosmetic or easily removable mods though, as long as they don't effect the warranty.

Haha, that's all I'll be doing anyway, will call them and double check though, better safe than sorry I suppose!

If the car is under finance then you are not allow to modify the vehicle without permission. What you need to understand is that you do not own the car, the finance company does and if you default on the payments the finance company will have a harder time liquidating the asset.

Best bet is if you want to do small things contact the finance company ask what is acceptable.

As for warranty, speak with your dealer because ultimately it is them would have to deal with Citroen and you need them onside in the event of a claim.

Because the finance company can sue for loss, seen it before when I was with MG.

Also pretty sure it's in the finance handbook
