        A quick update for everyone,

So My PCP was due to end October, I have done a VT or Voluntary termination. The DS3 gets collected in a couple of weeks. I expect to be charged for around 4K worth of excess mileage charges. at £0.12p per mile inc vat. I ended up refurbishing all 4 alloys, doing the 75K service and getting a minor rear bumper scuff sprayed. All IN all I expect it will have cost me £1600 just to hand the car back, That's assuming they don't find any other damage they deem is not acceptable wear and tear.

A couple of the radio buttons have worn badly, the writing is no longer visible on them, and my floor mats (not the actual carpet) are worn drivers side. I cant see that not bieng fair wear and tear though?

Was keeping the car and paying its GFV the only option for you? Am I right in understanding that the VT has cost £1600 on top of whatever you were owing? Without sounding nosy? Or have I misunderstood...

I enquired about paying the car off now (2 years in) and doing a VT last week. VT works out around £1,000 more expensive before mileage penalties, and paying the car off now isn't really what I want to do, although it would be cheaper than doing a VT.

Looks like I'm instead going to up my mileage allowance for the final twelve months (to 70k total); I figure this is going to work out at least £100 cheaper than paying a mileage penalty at the end, even with the £65 admin charge included; based on the figures Citroen finance have given me.

My only signs of wear at this point are two minor scuffs on the alloys; bodywork is all fine. I've got issues with certain switches in the car, similar to you (climate control) but I'll be having words if they judge that as being worthy of a penalty.

Anyhoo... going to stick it out for the final year. I will be handing back the car with nearly 70,000 miles on the clock in Aug 16 but it seems like the most straightforward thing for me to do and it's still a fantastic car to drive... and it honestly doesn't feel like two minutes since I was picking it up. So we'll see what's what 12 months down the line (fingers crossed I can do less than 25k miles and keep it under 70k - should manage comfortably).

What car are you going for, Ritch?

            Hello Everyone,

So today my car was collected by the finance company. As i have handed it back as a VT. In Answer to DigitalCar Yes it has cost me to hand the car back as, I would still be charged for any damage, scuffs dents etc, and I am still obliged to get the car serviced as per Manufacturers schedule (All be it at an independent Garage using genuine Citroen Parts)

Its cost me: £470 in repairs (alloy wheel refurbishment and paintwork correction)
            £300 servicing 75K service
I await my excess mileage bill, but I anticipate this being 4K miles over. estimated cost by me £480

I wont buy another Citroen on PCP again, as whilst its been an amazing car to drive, the depreciation and high mileage I do just doesn't make it an economical choice for work.

I could have kept the car and paid the GFV, but the GFV is more than market value, so I would have been overpaying for the car, that option didnt appeal as keeping a Citroen DS3 past 100K miles scares me.

I wait with baited breath the letter from PSA Finance, if anyone is interested, most of Citreon Stock goes to City Auctions in Rockingham Corby, In fact my car is on the Auction site now!.

Interesting! I'm actually having a faff with Citroen finance in getting my mileage upped. The dealer I bought the car off has also said I may be better leasing in future due to my high mileage... is this the route you've gone down with the BMW, Ritch?

Thanks for keeping us in the loop, it's just interesting to know that other people are having varied experiences with the PCP.

Thanks everyone I've enjoyed every minute of the DS3 and don't regret it for a second. Believe it or not ive done another PCP based on 28k miles per year. BMW hold their value better and are more accepted as high mileage cars when sold on. So I hope that together with a more robust brand, and higher mileage allowance I will be in a better position next time.

Lease cars are fine but you don't have the same consumer protection laws to hand cars back early, so can be costly to exit from early!

I am now just waiting for the bill from Citroen. Does anyone have any experience of how long it takes them to write to me to inform me of charges after a car has gone back?

Warning, this email contains a RANT!!!!!

As you may have read I handed my DS3 back on 28th August. I today have received a Bill for nearly £1300.....

Although I took the contract out Oct 2012, they claim I am only 33 months into a 37 month Agreement, so have hit me with £900 worth of excess mileage. they have also charged me £227 as they claim to have found a stone chip on the bonnet, stone chip on the bumper, a dent on the passenger door and they dont like the SMART repair I had on my bumper in July.

I know they haven't spent a penny on the car, as it was appraised on Sept 1st, was auctioned on Sept 3rd and is now up for sale in Northan Ireland for nearly £8900 by a private dealer.

Is anyone able to offer any sensible constructive advice please, I really don't want to hand over £1300 of my hard earned cash to these bunch of Sharks.

Ive emailed them to dispute the contract term, dispute the door dent, and stone chips, as I believe the stone chips are fair wear and tear, and question why they didn't like the previous repair.

Help!!!! I feel very sick now

Rich, it doesnt seem like youre having a great time,

                      Most importantly, if youre disputing when the agreement ends, check the finance agreement you signed, and see exactly what date you agreed was the end. Surely if your contract began in October, your first payment would have been November? So on the agreement it should say;
                      1 monthly payment of £££
followed by 35 monthly payments of £££
then 1 final payment of £££

You need to find out when they expected the final £££

Personally, Id seek legal help and see where i stand with this instead of going all guns blazing and possibly being wrong?

Hope youre enjoying the bimmerrrrrrrr

Oh heck it sounds like a nightmare.

I'm getting nervous now because Citroen are being particularly useless in sending me forms to up my mileage allowance. Nearly 3 weeks since I originally requested, and 3 additional phone calls later, I've still not had the appropriate paperwork. All the while, the time ticks by.

Keep us updated - I've got stone chips on mine (maybe less visible on white, though?) which I consider to be fair wear and tear. Take it up with the government and the condition of our roads if they want to be awkward about these things.

                          Digital Cal,

I will be blunt; DO NOT HAND YOUR CAR BACK to Citroen. They will find every excuse in the book to charge you an arm and a leg, Google their receiving Company RMS Recievables to see what I mean! There are numerous threads on the internet where Mysterious dents appear and damage not noted on the hand back form, Note that the hand back company reserve the right to inspect the car back at their base, and charge for anything they like! you will have no say once the car is in their hands.

My bill started off as £1300 and my car was Graded as a 1 by the Auction House, its now up for sale in Northan Ireland for £8900 lol. the worst bit is, the damage they charge for doesnt even get fixed, it just goes to line their pockets!

Isn't RMS Recievables a debt management company?

My understanding was that Manheim was the collection agent for Citroen.

                                Bigfeet,

The car was collected by G4 who act on behalf of RMS Receivables, I was not in arrears, and on a standard PSA PCP finance deal. The car went straight to Auction.

All I know is, it was an unpleasant experience I will not be repeating. To charge someone for Damage they knew nothing about, and 2 single Stone Chips is unforgivable if you ask me. on a car thats done nearly 77K miles in 3 years.
