  • Had a good run today - 60mpg

I took my THP on a 90 mile run today - mostly motorway, although only 50mph for a long stretch due to road works. However, I'm happy to report an average mpg of 60. It hit 61.3 at one point but a bit of town driving brought it down slightly. Amazingly, having returned 42.7 over 1800 miles/5 months, that also went up today to 43.4. I'm happy with all that and the car was a pleasure to drive.

You guessed right about the m/way.
I'm sure I could get better mpg but I drive at the maximum speed limit, when I can, and don't dilly dally from the off. What's the point of having the ponies if you don't use them, eh?

Best I've had in my 150 is about 53mpg going down to Trax and back last year, and that was driving at the speed limit. 60 is impressive. How old's the car?

May 2013 - 11300 miles. Just started using Shell V-Power last month but don't know if that contributed at all.

N Derbys / S Yorks is no better!!

The job I've been in for the past 3 years means regular driving from J29 to Leeds / Bradford. After having 1 X 50 mph zones since before I started the job there were then 2 and there's now 3 !!!!! Great for fuel economy but on Tuesday I set of at 6.30 with the sat nav telling me arrival at around 7.55 and actually arrived at 8.50

Luckily, I hardly ever use the motorway. It's been a real eye opener for me.

So, the car has had a temperature sensor problem for a few weeks and I've seen my steady 47mpg up hill and down dale drop to 39mpg. I decided I should get it sorted before winter and had it replaced under warranty yesterday. Well, wow! I couldn't believe this...

I wasn't even able to drive optimally because all the numpties were out. I'm always happy with 47 but I'm well impressed now.

Forgot to mention - on the same trip last week, I got 40.3

Hi, are these figures from petrol or diesel THP's?

Obviously doing it wrong...our diesel gets a whopping 47mpg. Damned company car tax rules penalising you 540 quid a year for a petrol..
