  • Heated Front Seats

I've seen a few post regarding this, but haven't really seen anyone post about actually having these in the UK.

It does appear some European countries have heated seats so I was wondering, if I'm ordering a brand new DS3 even though their not UK spec would it be possible for the dealer to import / obtain them? I'm guessing there'd be other changes needed (loom etc) and LHD Vs RHD would probably cause additional problems (are there any countries with RHD DS3s which have heated seats?) so I think I know the answer but would be interested to hear people's views / thoughts.

I've asked a couple of dealers and one said a definite 'no' whereas the second said they'd enquire and let me know - that was over a week ago and I've heard nothing.

I think it would be easier to modify the original seats with aftermarket parts than buy a LHD in the UK

Agree with Shiro. Any auto upholstery shop will be able to install a seat heating system. It is part of what they do. Can't work worse than the factory heaters. Trust me on this they are weak.

        Thanks guys.

Wasn't thinking of buying a LHD but was thinking that all cars with heaters would be LHD so this could further complicate things if you tried to add to a RHD UK car. I'm guessing a wiring loom from a LHD car with or without heated seats wouldn't work on a RHD UK car for lots of reasons?

I think that's the route I'll need to go :Joni:

From what I have been told by CUK it is to do with the fact that that LHD cars seats are different then the RHD seats, what told there is in this matter I have yet to see.

Well they certainly did not lie to you. They are different, LHD has seat heaters RHD does not, see they are different:rolleyes:

Thanks to all who replied. :Joni:

Done a bit of digging over the last few days and it seems 'aftermarket' is the only way to go. Based on a leather interior and using what appears to be a reputable brand, two slightly different options are available - both have the same heating elements and independent left / right controls but one option has a high / low setting only whereas the other has 5 temperature settings. With both the controls can be fit pretty much anywhere including the base of each seat.

Again, using reputable companies (ones who have good reviews) I can either buy the units and install myself or have them fitted. Not priced up the buy only option but have been quoted £400 fitted for the high / low option and £430 for the 5 settings version. I have found versions which can be fitted for as low as £150 but the products and companies seem a little questionable . If you like switches with bright neon dashboard lights which would light up the interior at night then these are for you .Considering its a heating element / electrics I'd rather pay more and be 100% safe and happy.

Just need to find out now how this would sit with Citroen's Warranty and the car insurance.

Am considering having these on a 14 plate DSport Plus 115 Airdream and, if all seems good, what will be a 65 plate DSport THP 165. Would be interested to hear some views / thoughts, especially around Citroen's warranty.
