Just come back from a 10 day holiday with 2 adults and 3 late teens in my DS3 Cabrio! My wife has a 16 year old black Ford Galaxy with 2 broken electric windows and faulty air con. When I asked the kids which car they wanted me to take they insisted mine! I thought it would be impossible but we managed it - from London to the Isle of Wight for 10 days. I used to have a Peugeot 308cc but although a big boot, only had seats for 4, and my daughters boyfriend wanted to come too, meaning 5 of us.
Although the boot opening is small, a medium and small size suitcase can be posted through it, but a large suitcase can be loaded via the folding back seats - as you can see from the pic, I fitted all 3 cases in. Still wasn't enough space, I don't have a spare wheel, just the compressor and foam, so stuffed the spare wheel well with holiday stuff. Still not enough..... Unfortunately you can't fit roof bars to the cabrio so no roof box. I then remembered I'd bought a 'Boot Bag' which is meant to increase luggage space for convertibles by strapping on top of the boot, I'd used it a few times having owned 2 x 307cc's and 3 x 308cc's. It struck me that it could strap to the boot lid on my DS3 and as you can see from the pic it worked fine, giving an extra 90 litres of space.
All in all it worked well, we got all the stuff in, and in my Peugeots, although bigger cars, we couldn't have brought the boyfriend, and couldn't have used the roof with the boot full. Although the DS3 Cabrio is a compromise, for me, to my surprise it's worth it. It seats 5, and the roof can always be used, regardless of the load in the boot or your speed (up to 75mph). A big pat on the back to my little DS3!
