  • Fallen out of love with my ds3 :(

I've always had citroens or pugs, little hatches. Wanted a ds3 for ages now I have one, I just can't get on with it. The car feels it's had a hard life even at only 2 years old. I've had the car 8 months, 2 flats replaced the tyres, new door panel due to a paint error. I used the car for work for the last 5 weeks and it still hasn't gelled with me. So what do I do next?

I'm moved work to being local again so I won't use the car very often, but need one for Scotland in 4 weeks time I need a towbar to take the bikes for a cycling holiday.

I owe £7,400 based on my balance, if I change the car now will I get near that as its value? Or close to it? If I only get say £6000 will Citroen add the difference to the replacement car? Thinking of going back to a c3, or is it better to keep the car on the driveway until I've paid a bit more off it?

This is the first car I've felt like this, which is a shame as I've lusted after one for so long...

Sorry to hear you've fallen out of love with it but from the reasons you've stated I'm not really sure why... Flat tyres will happen with any car and your paint error sounds like bad luck. It could be you've been unlucky with this particular car and you would enjoy a different DS3, maybe with a different engine? (You didn't specify what model you have).

As for finance, best bet would be to speak to your dealer and see what they can do, I swapped my previous DS3 for a new one at 2 years of a 3 year Elect3 deal, I owed around what the car was worth and my dealer sorted it. Go and see what they have and test drive a different DS3 and C3 back to back and see what you think maybe?

Whatever you choose, hope you get the car you want

Well I've never had flats before in 18 years of driving.

I've got the 1.6 dstyle plus, I went for it as I wanted more power to get me up those Welsh hills when I go mountain biking, and I wanted one since they revealed them as a concept.

I really hate the drive and a car that should give me a grin afterwards it doesn't I can't wait to get out of the car after a journey. It's really odd, I can't put my finger on why I hate it so much, guess it's one of those love/hate relationships, it doesn't help the last few times I've been out my oh has been violently sick after each journey, again no idea why wasn't nice the first time. She used to get travel sickness years ago, and now it's back.

Wait, so it's the cars fault it had 2 flat tires?

If your not liking the car and it is making your life miserable. Get rid of it, maybe at a financial loss but it's an emotional gain and that makes it worth it. You said you like the small french cars. Have you looked at the Pug 208, can stay with 2 door sporty driving car with that. C3 are just so boring.

It depends what your overall financial position is. Are you bothered about losing money on it? Can you afford to? Me, personally, if I don't like a car I get shot of it and move on. As far as I'm concerned, cars are a loss maker anyway so I don't lose sleep over it.

Nope, that's the new one, it's a drivers car according to nearly every car reviewer. I'll let you know in a couple of weeks.

                  Consider contract hire (Lease) ?
Recently you could get a Pug Prestige 208 (BHP) top of the range, £80pm inc vat with £1600 down (Non returnable) over 18months
No worries bout depreciation, 10k miles a year, and a fast little car. (Back to THP tho lol)

And there are certainly some fab other deals out there
Nissan 350z V6 £200 a month, BMW series 3 bout £230i think.... why own I think to myself

I've got a test drive Sunday in a 208 1.0 110 engine, finance is pretty good, spoke to the dealer about my oh ravel
Sickness and other bits, hopefully this will be ok, as they both have the same finance company as long as the value of my ds3 isn't too far away from the owed should be ok.
