  • Advice: 150 THP or 155 THP?

    Hi Guys,

I'm looking to buy a DSport and have seen a nice late 2011 car, which after checking the VIN is a 150 THP. The price seems pretty good... But reading up on the forum in not sure if its going to be better to just search for 2012 THP and maybe pay a little more.

What would you recommend? Avoid the 150 at all costs, or is it not as bad as I've been reading?

Advice welcome as my heart says buy the car but my head says why take the risk!

    Thanks in advance.

If you can get your hands on the cars mechanical history then that would help, I have a 2010 150 and with the exception of a walnut blast, any issue was dealt with under warranty. If your car has had those updates (timing chain/HPFP for example) then it may be fine.
Even if the car shows some hesitation under hard acceleration then chances are it carbon build up which you can use to beat them down on the price, then get is walnut blasted.

The cars history is essential and the dealer should have the lot on its Citroen database.

I had a 2011 June THP150 and didn't give me any trouble at all, then I got a 155.... LOL.

I had one of the troublesome 150's and it put me off Citroen's for life.

That being said, I know more people who have had them and haven't encountered a single fault. I loved mine to bits but fell out of love with it when it started to cost me my limbs.

I have a 2011 150 and it had to have its fuel pump replaced at about 2 years old. I'm getting the hesitation on hard acceleration now and it doesn't feel anywhere near as quick and responsive as it used to but the walnut blasting apparently should cure that.

I have a 2010 THP with 33k miles on it which, apart from a few warranty issues in the first year or two, has been no trouble.

I did think recently that the acceleration had become not so smooth but a couple of motorway journeys seems to have restored it.

Apparently the car hasn't had any recalls or warranty work... which I'm not sure is a good thing or a bad thing, as it probably means it wont have the timing chain/HPFP updates (unless the updates came in part way through the 150 run?)

I would say a bad sign, certainly the timing chain/tensioner should have been changed I would have thought. Also have a look to see if there is any corrosion on the wheels.

For those with 20k+ on the clock, having a walnut blast will bring back the performance you didn't realise you had lost.
When I had mine done it almost felt like it had been mapped again.

Hi all, I'm having hesitancy issues with a 2011 thp 150 with 38,000 miles. Is the walnut blasting a way of removing the carbon without stripping valves out? How much am I looking at and where can I get it done.
Wouldn't mind some of those horses back!
